Massively OP Podcast: Episode 3

Whether it’s talking about a giant’s love for a space hamster or the dire importance of sweatpants on superheroes, the Massively OP Podcast team will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of these significant MMO industry stories from this past week. Well, they’ll probably stop for McFlurries, because that sweetness is the bomb, yo.

Thanks again Justin and Bree for yet again one more example how a professional gaming podcast should be set up and reported. As for EQN, well I am still not sure what exactly they actually have completed. I agree with Bree that maybe they need to speed this process up and start thinking about getting the game out the door in a sane amount of time. Sure would be nice if they could reveal some type of hands on demo.
Crowfall sounds interesting and I sure know that hard card pvpers need a place they can all their own, so to speak.
Keep up the good work the podcast is truly a gem for massively OP!

dreamlitcomics We’re always willing to talk about it, but the blogging/news scene is a little different in Korea and we seem to have fewer sources for overseas games than we’d like. We use what we can, but there is a gap present.

TomTurtle It’ll be part of the show notes going forward. I just used Larry’s intro because they put a lot of work into it and I wanted to get some mileage out of it.

FineFineValentine We know pretty well what Storybricks is — I did a lot of the initial interviews with Namaste about it, and it is cool. But it also does have a lot to do with the AI of the game, which is why the devs even directly mentioned it in connection with AI in that dev stream.

On business models for EQN, B2P might be pretty nice, coupled with their all access. There’s a lot of people who’d buy EQN, then there’s a lot of people who would probably try it out because it’ll come along with their already active PS2 or whatever else sub.

Tali also tells her drone in Mass Effect 3 to, GO FOR THE OPTICS.

I think Minsc and Boo is awesome for Neverwinter. But I’m still waiting for my Kobold race to play as.

I just listened to this, so excuse me if I’m late-to-the-party.

But MAN Justin/Bree, you gotta learn what Storybricks is before you talk about it :P

It has nothing to do with A.I. It has to do with letting players script their own quests and story content. Seriously, just give the video for their own, pre-EQN Kickstarter (that failed, unfortunately) a look, because they explained it brilliantly. SOE… er, Daybreak losing them is a MASSIVE BLOW for what was surely going to be a revolutionary and really cool feature. I mean, you didn’t even know what it is! Especially for a game like Everquest NEXT, that was all about having people customize the world and let people take ownership of the world and really affect change and all that.

Seriously, you guys are WAY OFF BASE as to what that technology was all about. It’s a shame – you guys should know! It’s super exciting. Or at least it was…

Daybreak saying they left stuff in doesn’t make me happy since the game seems to not be coming together anyway (they’ve been tweaking the sh** out of Landmark instead and whenever a game goes so quiet for this long, it’s just hard to be hopeful). This was going to be as cool a feature as the voxel worlds.

Seriously, watch the video guys. In a minute, you’ll be like, “OH SH** – that was REALLY cool!” and you’ll stop talking about A.I. ;)

Yeah, I don’t really expect us to up and switch just like that, but I find that of all the sites I comment on regularly that use either Disqus or LF, I have the least issues with Disqus. Plus, I’m just more familiar with it. You know, it’s not like they’re hugely different or anything, I just sorta got more used  to the one than the other. :D

TomTurtle Yeah, I guess it hasn’t come up because we haven’t had lots of peeps on yet! :D Sorry!
