ArcheAge’s Secrets of Ayanad arrives with a fresh trailer

The goalpost for ArcheAge character levels has been moved with today’s update, bringing both the character and skill level tree cap to 55. The good news for NA and EU players is that the XP to get from 50 to 55 is less than what Korean players have to tackle. The really good news is that more levels equals additional skills with which to experiment.

And that’s only the start of the fun of the Secrets of Ayanad update. Players can now go explore the contested zone of Diamond Shores, craft obsidian weapons, and duke it out in the Ayanad Library instances. Check out all of the changes and additions in the patch notes while you prepare to sprint (or leisurely stroll) to 55!

You mean that if you assume that it’s 60% bots and 40% players? And that can be used in the same games that it’s compared too.

Walah Sythalin Now if we take into account the game has 60% bots/hackers and 40% players..

I know that Raptr, Newzoo, and others that report ArcheAge being the top 3 played mmorpg. By all means there is a difference between perception and reality. It has nothing to do with what I like or dislike.

Strictly numbers…Check them out when you get the chance…

I see the same old names on my server getting successful regrade after successful regrade. It’s really hard to tell if these guys are just burning through money or if they are using the regrade hack. Either way us normal players will never be able to compete.

At least the horrible quality of Trion videos remains constant across all products….

It’s almost like I have a negative-item wishlist for this game. If they took these things out, it would easily bring me back.

Try getting into an active guild with a navy, then go out trading or viking with them. This really is what made the game for me. :)

Yeah… I don’t get it. My machine is pretty robust, but old and my graphics *STILL* look way better than Trion’s promotional material.

I’d say wait a year. I’ve uninstalled the game on all my systems and have decided to give it another look in 2016. I expect it will take Trion about that long to finally get XLGames permission to make some of the more radical changes they’d like to make, like offline labor regeneration.

Sea PVP is awesome, en masse land PVP is awesome. One on one (or as it usually occurs, 3 on one) PVP kind of sucks, especially if your enemy is a wallet-warrior. The enchantment/crafting systems heavily favors those blessed with disposable incomes.

One of the more successful and popular mmorpgs that everyone claims not to play…..
The game’s not perfect, but the vocal minority are the loudest when it comes to this game.

You can already do what you’re asking in AA. You are just waiting for the game to tell you.

MesaSage What the…… I cannot believe that was a gaming company releasing that video. Even in game my graphics are better than that when I played the game!

Hmm I’m alittle unsure Archeage, I realize what I really liked about it was the PVE and sandbox part of the game (Crafting, housing & tradepacks  particularly.) and conversely what I didn’t enjoy was the PVP.

While I like pvp in many games It really turned me off in Archeage, perhaps its my previous experience in WOW or other games but Arenas in AA were usually over in about 10 seconds and very unsatisfying, the zerg fest was you know a zerfest ;) nothing special there.

I did have some fun small group pvp while I was lvling a ranged class that was a blast but it was few and far between.
Perhaps now that I understand this I can avoid the pvp and enjoy whats left of the game… idk just me 2 cents

I don’t know where I stand towards AA. Tried it for about a week and liked it at first but that shine wore off sooner rather than later. What I dislike the most is the very linear questing. Around lvl 20 now and the world hasn’t opened up at all. I’m still being sent from A to B to C, having little more than 2-3 quests at a time. Does this ever get ‘better’?
Whatever happened to good old-fashioned MMO gameple where you picked up dozens of quests before setting off with some friends on a 2-3hour landscape questing run?

This game is just about done with me, its in my hard drive and may pop in for one last time hoping, after that if its still the same mess as was a few weeks ago its going to graveyard of the un-installation voids. no return.
as it is glyph/trion/archeage/ can’t make its mind up what folders to place the game in even though you directed it to one folder… it does what it wants & creates over X-many folders all over your friggin hard drive !&^**^%?$?!

Darthbawl  WARNING:Playing ArcheAge will lighten your wallet, give you splitting migraines, get you scammed or cause fits of rage at the ineptitude of Trion’s management of the game. Certain individuals may also experience bouts of douchebaggery. Use with caution…

squidgod2000 The RNG crafting was the nail in the coffin for me.  I even got up to Epherium for my bow…But the crafting system sucks,  RNG to where after you make something super expensive you can’t make the next upgrade because it didn’t roll to the version you could?!  F that!  I would have been ok with it if it was just the RNG for the first item type and then from that point you upgrade it to that same type as you go.  I don’t even care if they made it cost 10x as much.  but the RNG really just blew.

If I was hearing about it for the first time, that trailer would do nothing to sell me on this game.

So how many times do you need to do the library to reach level 55?

mrnastybutler I think the game truly shines graphically when you’re out sailing.  But otherwise it’s still pretty good compared to most of the MMOs out there.

WARNING: Mentioned on the official forums by the devs: whichever character you first login after this patch, they will get a gift box with some goodies in it:

(copy/paste from the forums) The boxes will contain 11 tickets, 10 of which will last for 3 mins
each, and provide a 50% boost to skill dmg, as well as add, i belive it
was 1200 mdef and pdef. maybe it was 1500.. the 11th ticket will
provide a 30 minute buff, which will provide a 75% boost to skill dmg,
and 1700 mdef/pdef. They will only work INSIDE the library, and will be
removed upon exiting the library, or upon time expiration.
—–
So be sure to login the character you want these items on, they are not tradeable!

squidgod2000 the combat is quite ugly in my opinion. The mixing of the sandbox and themepark elements just didn’t work. Too many limitations on the construction,  too many safe zones,  no real benefit in being a pirate, instanced sieging. Now everybody understands why it  didn’t work in Korea (needs to be underlined,  because everybody in Eu and na think it was a success!)

mrnastybutler it’s probably because he is using dx9. I left the game 2ltwo weeks after the release but it seems that it still has lots of problems with the dx11. And to be honest it has never been that amusing graphic wise ( zone generally are quite plain and not much detail).

For some reason, those camera shots made the game look very dated.

I just checked out AA over the weekend for the first time. It is okay at best, but nothing has jumped out at me as being great. Maybe I haven’t played long enough to experience the good stuff.

squidgod2000 “Fantastic” might be a reach.  It still would have weak dungeons, one truly boring PVP arena, and weak solo questing.
They built some cool systems (that were totally exploited obviously), but the traditional content is really meh

squidgod2000 There’s more to AA than the exploits, bots, cash-sop and RNG-based gear treadmill? :-p

If not for the exploits, bots, cash shop and RNG-based gear treadmill, ArcheAge would be a fantastic game.

Is “trailer” a code-word for “exploit”?
