Massively OP Podcast: Episode 6

When an MMO delivers an update to nerf difficult content, it can cause a rift deeper than that of the North versus the South. Between veterans proclaiming the doom of carebearism and casuals rejoicing over being included, our podcasters wade in to deliver their thoughts before being overwhelmed by the mob.

Also in this week’s episode, llamas! Er, that should be “betas.” A different beast entirely.

Yeah if I was twenty years younger and forty pounds lighter I’d go with that. But I’m not. I’m just under 6’2″ and 230 (I need to drop down to 200 really) and a bike like that would wreak havoc on this body. hehe. I think I’m going to go more for a cruiser, though a small part of me wants to say hell with it and snag that Moto Guzzi. lol

CrowingOne Nordavind Hurbster I do have access, I follow every thread every day on TL as I am one of the testers.

No where does it ever say that LF was considered an AoE. And even if it was, and the initial nerf was intended, it was changed back and the change never hit live. I cannot phantom why you keep insisting on this. I assume you did what I said? You see its still 2 % right, as it has always been?

You even now got the same answer from someone else over on the live forums as you got from me. So, this is me backing out of this comment field. Going in circles like this has no point.

lol! Now you got me drooling over a Shards like GURPs system. Doh. Off to take a nap, I was out driving today looking at motorcycles. A Moto Guzzi cafe racer caught my eye, darn fun looking bike though I don’t think my wrists and back could take the abuse! But man did I smile sitting on it, gotta be something dead in you not to smile while looking at a V7 Racer.

Heh, sorry didn’t mean to intrigue you with some sort of hope for a GURPS based mechanics system. Just a figure of speech, I’ve used many tabletop gaming systems over the decades and by the late 1980s GURPs had become the default system that I used. It was more flexible and allowed me to design campaigns around any genre that I wanted to run a role-playing campaign in. Really a wonderful mechanics system. Allowed you to pretty much do anything and had mechanics for it!

CrowingOne Nordavind Hurbster Leeching Frenzy is not an AoE. It is a passive triggered by an AoE subtype. The effect itself is a personal buff you get for 4 seconds which translates any damage you do, with any ability not just frenzy ones, to a heal.

It was mistakenly reduced in the first TL patch because it contains the keyword Frenzy, then fixed in the second patch. The erroneously change never made it to the live server. (There were three patched on TL before anything went live).

Strip down in-game and you will see that LF has a base is 2 % heal.
Then take a look at this article which hasn’t been edited since January 2013: http://wiki.crygaia.com/view/Leeching_Frenzy

CrowingOne Nordavind Hurbster In the initial 1.11.1 patch on TL it was changed, but as a mistake. The following patch:

COMBAT
Assault Rifles
* (Testserver) Reverted the AoE changes for Reap and Sew, Leeching Frenzy, Outbreak Alert, and Shoot ‘Em Up.

So no, it has not changed on live. It’s your AoE damage that causes less healing, not the leech itself. Still at 2 % base as it always have been.

Nordavind agemyth I can agree that TSW is probably the only MMO that even dips a toe into the horror genre, but my response to most of those kinds of moments is amusement or in a case like The Black House I will think “that was cool”
Maybe I have exposed myself to too many horror games in general and have become an unblinking lifeless shell of a person.

CrowingOne Nordavind Hurbster Leeching Frenzy wasn’t hit by this nerf. It’s not an AoE heal nor an AoE Leech nor a frenzy. The state is set by using a frenzy ability, but the passive does the same amount of healing as before (base 2.0%, increases with heal rating)

What people must do though, is not rely on their AoEs to heal them up. After setting the Leeching Frenzy effect on yourself, you need to take advantage of single target damage when fighting fewer mobs to trigger a bigger heal. Just remember to reapply the LF every 4 second (or when needed) with a frenzy.

Also, take a look at Circulation instead of Immortal Spirit if you have a Destructive Override Module. It gives a HoT  when you afflict, and with the module a Barrier which is up quite often.
