Massively OP Podcast: Episode 13

What would you do if your game lost three million players in three months? Get depressed? Come up with excuses? Offset the bad news with some good? This week on the Massively OP podcast, we're betting that Blizzard probably did all of the above and then some. We've also got a new elite class to discuss, the finale to a certain conspiracy MMO, and the promise of a bright future for one upcoming title.

Join us on the podcast as we talk about what we've been playing in MMOs, the top news stories from the past week, and topics that listeners have submitted!

Serrenity Giantbomb does a pretty solid (and long) general gaming podcast.

Serrenity Zulika_Mi_Nam Podcasts surely make the traffic more bearable and luckily there are awesome apps now.
I used to download everything on my PC and transfer it to my phone a few times a week - back in the Michael Zinke days of the Massively podcast.   I am not a fan of itunes so I have been using an app called Downcast for the past few years that I love.  Most of the people where I work use Stitcher though which came along later.
Whatever your interests are, you can surely google up some podcasts about them.
You may even find yourself sitting in the car a few more minutes at your destination from time to time.  I stop them before I walk into work...cause I have to play my entrance music  ;-)

breetoplay Zulika_Mi_Nam Serrenity Radiolab always has interesting subjects and great production quality imo. They pointed to Love + Radio a few episodes ago and I am enjoying that one so far too.
The Story Collider is always my awesome gap filler since they are mostly 10 - 15 minutes in length.

Zulika_Mi_Nam Living in the traffic-hell that is Pittsburgh, my commute can very from 25minutes on a good day, to over an hour on a bad day (most often because of something inane, like a car pulled over with people standing outside it).  I will definitely check these out - I used to listen to audio books, but it's hella expensive.

Haven't listened yet, but I don't think "finale" is the correct word for TSW, unless preceded by "season". I believe their intention is to begin a new story arc in the next expansion.

As per Wikipedia ..
Sturgeon's law

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sturgeon%27s_Law&redirect=no)

Sturgeon's revelation, commonly referred to as Sturgeon's law, is an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adage commonly cited as "ninety percent of everything is crap." It is derived from quotations by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodore_Sturgeon, an American http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction_author
and critic: while Sturgeon coined another adage that he termed
"Sturgeon's law", it is his "revelation" that is usually referred to by
that term.
The phrase was derived from Sturgeon's observation that while science
fiction was often derided for its low quality by critics, it could be
noted that the majority of examples of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artistic_work
in other fields could equally be seen to be of low quality and that
science fiction was thus no different in that regard from other art
forms.

I would say that all games regardless of sub or f2p are pay to win in some way that will bug people, but that doesn't bother at all. You guys are asking the wrong question. What you really need to consider is this ruining my fun or can I have fun without paying?

Never would have guessed Justin was a brony, but those are the best bronies, the ones that don't seem like bronies.

Serrenity My gaming related podcasts that are currently active - Cat Context (MMOs & overall gaming), the Sandbox (as the name implies), Multiplaying (MMOs & overall gaming), MMO Reporter, Battle Bards (MMO music)

Science stories - RadioLab (lately not so sciencey as before), The Story Collider

Tech news - TWIT
News about the news kinda - On the Media

I actually have quite a few more on the Science side from BBC4, some game specific casts and a few general story ones that are new to me, but I will stop there.  If you want more let me know - I have a minimum ~hour drive to/from work and hate the radio as you can see.

breetoplay RingofVoid  Seriously thought, what if Verizon, a company that literally makes money from every MMO played on their network , decided to bring back the original Massively ?

I am so conflicted on issue #11 in TSW but I will hold my comments until it gets discussed in Chaos Theory as I have no wish to spoil it for folks that haven't run through it yet.  Still I hope you have fun when you play through it Justin, along with MJ :-)

Wooo!  Something to listen to on the car ride home :D
Also - does anyone have suggestions on other podcasts to listen to in addition to MassivelyOPs?  I love it, but its only an hour a week, and that's alot of non-podcast time I could be filling up :D

I just saw that Verizon is buying AOL.  Since it's for sale, do you think MOP should add a Patreon stretch goal to try and pull a Storybricks to buy AOL first?
