Skyforge soft launches into open beta on July 16th

Skyforge fans, get ready to get ready because your game is headed for soft launch. The open beta, which won’t be wiped, begins on July 16th, and early access for that open beta kicks off one week from today.

The wait is nearly over: Skyforge’s Open Beta begins on July 16th! And, starting on July 9th, Founder’s Pack owners will be able to take their first permanent steps towards Godhood, during the 7-day Skyforge Early Access period! Starting in Early Access, all progress will be permanent. On July 16th, after the conclusion of the Early Access event, Skyforge will then officially transition into Open Beta and the journey from immortal to godhood will begin for all players!

MMOs, launching convolutedly without using the word since 2010! Here’s more good news: If you log in during the first week of open beta, you’ll snag a sweet mechanic costume to boot. Check out the open beta trailer below.

Bashmet Joseph C Korse From what I experienced while playing the RU OBT, the sparks cap can be farmed out in 2 days with premium, maybe even faster if you only run from squad to squad like a maniac and get lucky with the x2 x3 bonuses. However there are several other caps like credits and non-progress sparks that should also be considered, especially the credits since you need relatively a lot for the upgrades and stuff and if one is not willing to purchase argents (which afaik can be exchanged for crredits outside the regular cap).

In my personal experience I see no reason to rush anywhere, those who do rush will most likely reach the point where they can only play with each other due to the matchmaking system, and then they are just gonna wait for hours to enter a dungeon. So all in all, it;s better to try and reach all the limits and not focus on raising one’s prestige as fast as possible, it will happen eventually anyway. The temples give a sizable chunk of prestige when leveled, and those require semi-constant attention if one wants to be efficient, the best part is they can be leveled outside the game, which helps those of us who have full time jobs.

I essentially see the game as an infinite progress one, played to about 10% atlas completion before deciding to wait for EU release, and that doesn’t even count the “leveling” trees for each separate class and the God form atlas that opens up later in the game.

I’ll check it out… later… much later.

Rozyn Joseph C StranaFA Yup! You need sparks to unlock classes in your atlas, and sparks are pretty much your “EXP”, which are on a weekly cap. So if you wanna focus on getting that awesome class you simply MUST have… well, too bad. Wait a week. Clearly they know better than you in how long you should be allowed to play.

Joseph C Korse What’s the cap? Heard it would only affect the spergiest of spergs.

Valkyriez 7 days headstart, so new players would be behind the curve. Probably worth the $20 to hop in early, even if marginally interested.

groo the wanderer Yeah, no wipe after open beta. The F2P model seems okay, but I wouldn’t clear it of the P2W label. The premium option enables faster progress (by quite a bit unless I’m mistaken), meaning you can pay to get ahead.
Still, not as much of a bad offender as many I’ve played.

Not really heard much about this one . There are so many games in development some slip under my radar because I automatically think they are probably Asian grinders . I did take a look at this one on youtube and I am interested enough to try the beta .

I am a little confused by the term soft launch . Does such an open beta launch mean there will be no character wipes and its essentially a real launch termed a beta to stop people complaining about it being unfinished or buggy at launch ?

Also looking at the website it does seem to have a decent free to play model that at first reading seems a lot less pay to win than say Archeage .

So when it actually goes live, new players will be months behind due to no wipe in open beta or is open beta only a week or so?

Joseph C StranaFA Do you need the xp to unlock the other classes?

StranaFA Joseph C But you can’t EXP. It’s basically staying “Ok, stop doing the thing you enjoy, and do all these other things we want you to do instead”. It’s trying to pad out it’s own game by forcing you to stop playing for certain intervals so you don’t realize how shallow the content is… and trying to get you to do other things that they think you should be doing. I don’t like it, and I won’t support it., simply because it’s treating a fully fleshed out PC game like a mobile/facebook game.

Joseph C there are still stuff you can do after you hit cap, like get thing to build your temples, resources to run your adept missions,  threads for new costumes.

I’ll probably install, log-in, hit the cap that day, then log out for a month or two. By what I’ve read, your caps increase every week, and it starts from that week onward. I was planning to main this game, since PSO2 is never going to come over, and let’s face it: That’s what this game pretty much is. But hey, if they wanna derp that hard and put in a korean-style stamina system designed to hold the player-base down, by all means.I’ll just wait until my caps fill out to where I can actually play the game and have fun. Or I’ll forget the game exists and keep playing Marvel Heroes. One of the two.

Korse Don’t forget about the caps. You get locked out for a solid week from earning the sparks and such that you need to “level up” after you hit your weekly cap…

I don’t know enough about this game to make a decision. Does it have an endgame? What is it? I don’t mind the hub missions. Reminds me of Warframe. But if I get to max level, what do I do then? I may need to watch more videos.

Didn’t realize that the game would launch this soon. Gratz guys!

Rozyn wjowski It is in OBT in Russia as well. It is ready enough to launch, it isn’t like those early access things you get on Steam.

Lol… soft launch could be the worst term ever. Wouldn’t it go everywhere?

If only it wasn’t so lobby-centric.

Not sure yet what to make of this one.  I tried it out during a limited early access a little while ago.  I must admit I’m intrigued by the atmosphere and lore.  It’s like somebody threw Star Wars, Anarchy Online, Dune, and a Greek classics professor in a blender and pushed the puree button.  But the rest of it… Well, it’s obviously quest hub oriented.  Not so good.  The combat system seems like it was developed by a 12-year old boy who just drank a liter of Jolt.  Not my thing.  The character development system feels like it was meant to be complex, but they ultimately just threw up their hands and settled for unnecessarily convoluted.

I’ll give it a chance, but I’m not seeing anything other than the visuals that really distinguishes it thus far.

Okay, so will the sentient boob jello mold monsters trying to escape women’s chests be toned down by then? Depending on how bored I am next week, I might part with $20. We shall see.

wjowski Isn’t it finished in Russia already though? I dunno, thought I read someone else say that before. /shrug

They also just converted their forums to a new portal system.  The community portal will be access inside or outside of game.  Its also eventually supposed to allow you access to controlling your Order/Adepts out of game.

Hmm I still think this game has some rough edges and it will be interesting to see how people react to it when they get to look at the game during the open beta process.  Me I have too much on my gaming plate at the moment to jump in right away but I am sure I will take another look at it at some point in the future.

Cool, so right after the TSW event ends! I should get far enough to feel good about sidelining it for a while to play this. Glad it’s coming so soon after the last closed beta, because I’ve been eager to get my hands on it some more.
