RaiderZ is shutting down in August

Perfect World is shutting down RaiderZ, effective August 7th at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The firm says that payments back-dated to May 7th will be refunded to your Arc account balance and will be available for spending in other PWE titles.

MAIET, the original developer of RaiderZ, has ceased operations, and Perfect World says that it is therefore unable to troubleshoot persistent server issues or “deliver a quality experience,” hence the shutdown.

“Neverwinter had the same controls and didn’t feel that way at all.”
Not sure if you actually played the game there bud.
Thanks for the review though.

Also the server that I play on is http://www.wildraiderz.com/
The server he been up for years.
Perfect World is why the game is shut down.
The entire company shut down last year, bought out by Arc.

Neverwinter had the same controls and didn’t feel that way at all. It wasn’t the combat system, it was the game. In RaiderZ the character was slow to respond and to me, did feel clunky. I was playing a melee class, and I do not have a game pad for my PC. Just because I don’t like a game and you do, doesn’t make me bad at it. To each his own, I guess. I’m sorry they shut your game down. That happened to me and it sucks.

The Combat in RaiderZ is extremely smooth, watch a higher level player play the game and you’re realize that you’re just inexperienced quickly.
The game does feel better with a gamepad for melee classes, from my experience, using a keyboard to play heavier games like it isn’t enjoyable.
I’ll also ass that it Requires knowledge and player input,  If you’re bad at controlling your character, the game won’t feel as fluid.
The combat, though graphics clearly not of the same caliber, feels better than that of Witcher, the dark souls series and even bloodborne, and those are the only games I’ll consider worthy in comparison.
You’re effectively calling the combat system of each of those games “clunky”
That is absolute misinformation.

This game actually wasn’t that bad. Probably the best Monster Hunter-esque game on PC(that’s not actual Monster Hunter). The only thing I can say I hated was the lack of LFD. I hear the shop was pretty bad. I wonder how things would have gone if the game had been Buy To Play.

BKone Tera uses Unreal engine, maybe that’s what you are thinking of?

Madda In your last sentence you referred to yourself in 3rd person. Are you Rickey Henderson?

Aside from the combat, I wasn’t super impressed with this game. It’s one among many Asian grinder action combat games of different flavors. It felt generic and somehow unfinished to me. Still, sad to see any game shut down. I had this incredible urge to play CoH yesterday and it made me sad. :(

Never got around to playing it in live. Always intended to but just didn’t seem good enough to give it the time. Now that motivation’s totally gone. Nuts.

To be fair, it IS Perfect World we’re talking about.

About half their games are running low on players.

Madda still misses that one game they had. It let you tame pets, had a very cartoony appearance, and was grindy as hell.

Maeit been cease RaiderZ developer over year or two ago.  PWE was just seeing how long they could milk their players.

the game was an amazing game better than tera in many ways

but PWE messed up and didn’t bother with the game and went looking elsewhere for more money

I played this game alot longer than Tera. It was alot more interesting and the boss battles were better. RIP RaiderZ

The best thing about this game was the combat system. It was fast paced with hitting, blocking, and dodging. And you got to customize your class by mixing in skills from other classes. The boss fights were insane. PvP was pretty good too, as long as it was small groups. There were only two large scale PvP zones and they were a mess. Not that PvP really mattered in this game. In the end the game never got refined and they barely added new content ever since release.

BKone Greaterdivinity it didn’t use the unreal engine, it used a custom engine made by the devs

This game had a few interesting gimmicks, but everything else was generic.

A shame really. There’s a whole bunch of generic MMO games with a few interesting concepts that just barely makes it interesting and differentiates it from the competition.

If only some enterprising developer would be able to pick all the good gimmicks from these games and make a super-MMO of sorts.

For example, Raiderz allowed the player character to cut or rip off chunks of flesh/bone/armor/etc. from enemy units and use it as a weapon against them in a battle.

I don’t think I’ve seen that done before in any MMO.

Greaterdivinity Well, this game was interesting because it uses Unreal engine.
Their next game I’m curious about is that Torchlight MMO. I hope they put out a PC version too. Till then it’s Marvel heroes time for my isometric needs lol.

What is with Maiet’s obsession with adding a big Z to the end of stuff?  GunZ is the only other series I know from them though I guess.

Still not really surprised they shut down.  GunZ 2 failed to capture the fun of the original GunZ.  And RaiderZ or whatever looked like it had some good ideas but wasn’t enough to really break through anything.  Doesn’t help that they turned to PWE for the publishing…

Still, RIP GunZ.

I was in beta for this one. Not good, but not really bad. The combat was clunky. I never played it when it launched.

The few times I gave this game a try I saw some potential in it, but the bland quest structure got in the way of the fun I wanted to find. In the end it just seemed like a more poorly designed Tera. Also, the name was terrible.

Captain Electric Although a bit dated, the skill-based action combat was pretty competent, and it had an interesting multi-class system that varied in flexibility depending on the equipment you chose. It’s pretty unique as far as B-list games go. I think its only real problems are its restrictive F2P trappings and the fact that it feels five years old in a world where games like TERA or Vindictus exist. I’d probably prefer Wizardry Online over this too, if it still existed outside of Japan.

Wonder if it has also got TV’s Patrick Duffy for a leg.

It’s free… So worth a try at any rate of you get around to it. It is definitely outside of the usual staple of Perfect World games, it’s a rather simplified, Monster Hunter Lite title, bit of actions combat with a gimmick that does t really feel like it’s used as much or as in depth as it should.

Maiet shut down? Huh… Never really realized or heard anything about it. Sucks, considering I actually really enjoyed Gunz The Duel…
This game…? Not so much. A little too rough around the edges for me to want to play… And considering I have Toukiden Kiwami and Monster hunter for my giant monster hunting needs… What it had on offer needed more work. It’s biggest thing was the whole break of parts and use as a weapon, but at least the fights I’ve done it doesn’t really come in all that much… Or change things up enough for me to focus on it instead.
Crafting felt a little… Bland, too. In the two games I listed, you had to cut off specific parts (or all) for the best chance at things… This? Just grind and kill a monster over and over, dependent solely on if you have enough people around to kill it.

Greaterdivinity I agree, I was surprised it stayed up for as long as it did considering they were basically in maintenance mode since the Korea servers shut down.

Was this game worthwhile? Well let me clarify that. Pretend we’re discussing the MMO equivalent of B movies. Was it at least mildly entertaining, compared with Perfect World’s crop of mostly generic microtransaction fests? I remember actually wanting to check RaiderZ out at some point; I saw a trailer and the game seemed to have some interesting (and unique for PW) visual bits.
The problem is, I never get around to watching B movies either.

Can’t say I’m terribly surprised. Actually more surprised it lasted this long, to be honest. The usual “Sad for the fans.” schpeal and all, but honestly, at this point if you’re tossing time/money at a game from a publisher like Aeria or Perfect World (minus Cryptics games, so far), you’re taking a pretty big gamble.
