Massively OP Podcast: Episode 22

It’s the circle of MMOs: Even as one game dies, another is born. And so it went this past week, with RaiderZ heading out even as Trove and Skyforge waves hello. In addition to all of this, the podcast team attempts to unravel all of the vitriol and infodumps concerning Star Citizen. That should fill up the hour, right?

It’s the Massively OP Podcast, an action-packed hour of news, tales, opinions, and gamer emails! And remember, if you’d like to send in your own letter to the show, use the “Tips” button in the top-right corner of the site to do so.

Good show. Blizzard has to come up with a new mega game or slowly vanish into obscurity.  No one want to do the same thing over and over forever {ok there are a few who don’t mind) so get off them yachts and start on your kids 401k plan with a new and improved wow killer.

Maneuvering a company the size of ATVI can be like driving a Semi through a slalom course.
Having said that this short sighted approach of quick profit on HotS, Hearthstone & Overwatch is going to have long term ramifications for WoW.  There were a lot of high profile people that left before & during Draenor’s release. Insiders see the writing on the wall before the public.

Re: Issue 12 of TSW, I agree with Justin, not much for my two friends and I at all – we play this game for the stories/missions. Dungeons aren’t our thing for TSW at all.

Re: WoW – so yes. I’d play WoW if they fixed their content release pace (and gave proper totems back to Shamans!) but I have ZERO loyalty to Blizzard as a dev – I will not be trying any of their other games since none of them are MMORPGs! So if they do bleed WoW dry to help the other games then Blizzard has lost my money for good.

raincoat No More Tears They also don’t usually talk about their age much outside of their friends and guildies because the internet is incredibly hostile and rude to “olds” (younger folks’ term, not mine). Guessing older folks are less about splashing out all over social media, oversharing, etc. They’re there, they’re just not in your face.

Wow makes them a lot of money, but dollar for dollar they make a lot more with the little games like Hearthstone and HotS. Thing is, when Squenix said they HAD to rework FF14 because it would besmirch their brand if they didn´t, Blizz did not pay attention. If WoW goes down and becomes well known as being left in life support by Blizz what does that do to all the other games that depend on WoW lore? Will people still care about hearthstone if WoW is left to collect dust? What about HotS?

McGuffn Actually its in the TOS that they can cancel your pledge if your making an asshat of yourself and causing the company problems..this isn’t the first time they have done this with a disruptive pledger..Manzas being specifically called out by RSI as an example.

zoward paragonlostinspace Too true. For example I’m about to go for an all day ride since the thunderstorms here have moved out. :) So I won’t be doing any gaming today or doing much reading. Of course there is always tonight for some gaming.
