Asta is heading west after failing in Korea

Free-to-play publisher Webzen has announced that it will localize Asta: The War of Tears and Winds for the western market. The company’s press release touts Asta as “a rich world inspired by Asian culture” and a game that offers “PvP battlegrounds and guild battles, a broad crafting system, scenarios and quests with rich lore, and a player-driven economy and rewarding dungeons.”

What Webzen’s press release doesn’t tell you is that Asta, which has been in development since 2010 and which was at one time called “the Asian World of Warcraft,” has already failed in Asia. MMO Culture has previously reported that Asta has not been updated since December of 2013.
