Elder Scrolls Online posts Imperial City tour, goes on sale

Yesterday we reported that Elder Scrolls Online had unleashed its first DLC pack, The Imperial City, for PC players. Today, ZeniMax has posted a large guide on what players can expect to find and enjoy in the new content.

The article walks players through how to purchase and access the Imperial City along with a long list of the new changes and features. Creative Director Rich Lambert also hinted at future quarterly DLC packs to come: “The Imperial City DLC game pack isn’t the end… it’s just the beginning. Orsinium is just around the corner — we also have tons of other new stuff and quality of life updates in the works.”

If you haven’t picked up the game yet, Elder Scrolls Online is currently on sale at Steam for 33% off.

I actually had the same problem Hardy83. It kind of discouraged me from picking the game backe up.

Might need to update your video drivers. I usually need to do this after a major patch on my machine.

I’ve been playing ESO heavily for the past few weeks but this patch has destroyed my frame rates. Previously I got a solid 60fps everywhere in ultra with v-sync enabled. Now it spikes all over the place, dropping to single figures on occasion.
A bit of research seems to point to add ons possibly playing a part. However, I just can’t play ESO in it’s vanilla state so I guess I’ll just have to wait until the addons are updated and / or Zenimax hotfixes the patch. Bloody annoying though.

People yelling about how they nerfed stam, but to me it was needed and they made mobs tougher, the game is finally going where it should have been at release. They done a great job with this patch.

hardy83 Bluxy You can find a decent character builder at http://www.esohead.com/calculator/skills.
Pretty sure some of the numbers and such are probably off, but at least you don’t have to go into skill allocation blind.

Bluxy hardy83 What? No didn’t say I didn’t know them, I said I just forgot which ones I took because the morph option doesn’t show me what the morph ranks are. I don’t feel like having to waste money or time respeccing or releveling a morph I didn’t rank up already.

Most morphs are obvious mate, just take your time, read the tool tip and choose accordingly.
Or, create an all new build! Be creative, try something new and look for some synergy.
As for Levelling past VR10, I’m not sure I can help much. I got to VR10 and haven’t even finished Cadwell Silver yet and I’ve never touched PvP more then a few times. I’ve done so many dungeons my eyes bleed when I see them now.
Why not try Imperial City PvE content to get past VR10?

ArtemisiaWS Budukahn I’m not going to lie, all the VR 14-16’s are buzzing around madly enjoying the slaughter as PvE’rs who are confused about who the target audience of this DLC was.. But if you must get through the quest line, then I would suggest switching your home to one of the less populated pvp realms.. I would NOT go to Azuras in NA and expect anything but death if you are not up to snuff or carry a few of your homies everywhere you go..

hardy83 VR 10 and does not know skill morphs?

Yeah maybe this game is not for you……

Was going to consider trying this out but they reset the skill points on my character and there is still NO way to know what morphs you took. It’s so stupid. The last time they reset I forgot which one I took and picked the wrong one. So annoying that I just said screw it.

That and I still don’t know how to level past VR10 as a solo player, or without it behind a stupid stupid long grind.

Armsbend Actually it’s weird because I’ve just seen now that on Steam home there’s an offer with “Tamriel Unlimited-Imperial City” written on, but if you click on it it just takes yu to the normal game store page, without any IC dlc sold. Duh weird way to advertise stuff.

Budukahn Yeah I’ve been told that it’s bad because it advances the main story but you need to get through pvp to get to story places, and you get killed constantly so I suppose it’s a huge downer.

I do have fond memories of the early part of Oblivion so a return to Imperial City appeals.  Sadly, the feedback I’ve seen suggests that it’s a very badly implemented DLC if your focus isn’t on PVP and you belong to a weaker alliance.  I’ll have to see how it plays out over the next few days before deciding whether I want to pony up and play again.

Greaterdivinity agemyth Just for the sake of info, the ESO sub gives you a monthly stipend as well. 1500 crowns. So basically, 2 months sub is enough to cover the cost of the DLC, if you want to unsub after, and still have 500 crowns to spend on cosmetics

agemyth Nope. TSW gives you a monthly stipend (well, so does DCUO, but you can’t buy the DLC with daybreak bux) that you have to use to purchase the DLC. Given the rate at which they launch DLC you can easily purchase it all as it comes out and have plenty of funcom bux left over for other stuff, but you still need to purchase it.

Rozyn Armsbend That should be $25 USD. 1 crown = 1 penny

Greaterdivinity Armsbend Same model for TSW, I think, as well.

Armsbend 2,500 crowns, however much that comes to, or included with the sub as long as you remain subbed.

Armsbend It’s free as long as you maintain a sub, though. Same model that DCUO uses with its DLC.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself in IC last night, both on a vet level character and on my 34 templar – to the point that when I glanced at the clock and saw 2AM – I was kind of surprised! Since pretty much the only reason I play is for PVP – and this update is almost completely PVP oriented – it’s worth it for me to stay subbed .  I must add, kudos to ZoS for huge improvements in the lag – while there was some stuttering when large zergs clashed – it was no where near as bad as the past 6 months have been!!  Good job!
