Sword and Bored: To the rescue

In the Star Wars Galaxies temporary-enemy-flag system, I remember how fun it was to shoot at Stormtroopers and do a guerrilla-like invasion of Theed. But sometimes when I would run away, I’d lose the group that I was with, and I’d have to sneak around town hoping that no players nor NPCs would see me. I imagine that’s about how Mo felt when he was TEFed after he accidentally stabbed the junk vendor last week.

In this week’s comic, we pick up right where we left off…

I’m noticing something happening with Sword and Bored that I’ve seen happen with many of my favorite webcomics, and it’s very cool.

In the beginning, the art tends to be very rough, and the attitude is more like, “Hey, let’s just get the joke out there. I did the best I could, and it’s just for a laugh”.
But over time, you start to see a steady rise in the quality of the visual composition and the artwork. Part of this is the artist wanting to see how far they can go, communicating ideas, and part of it is (I suppose) just the old truth that, the more one does something, the better one tends to get at it.
Anyway, I can already see the artwork on Sword and Bored becoming more ambitious and complex, week after week, and it’s very cool to watch it evolve and improve.
Congratulations, Larry. Good stuff!

While manly butts don’t don’t do it for me, personally, truth is truth, and aesthetics must be recognized.
Or, in the words of Lord Hotspur, from Shakespeare’s Henry IV, “Tell the truth, and shame the devil”. :-)

The only time I’ll ever agree with ganking…is when they gank the gankers. <3

The TEF is the only ombat system I’ve experienced that led to random explosions of PPV. It often really felt like a Star Wars setting because of it. On top of that you had the espionage! I miss the TEF :(

This reminds me of the Ironman Challenge in WoW.  Since one death was all it took to end your run challengers were very careful to avoid being pvp flagged.  There was one PvE Horde quest in Stonetalon that unexpectedly auto-flagged you for PVP, which sent me sprinting to the nearest flight master and flying back to wait it out in the very centre of Orgrimmar.
