WildStar’s lead writer answers pressing lore questions

Carbine Lead Writer Cory Herndon fielded dozens of WildStar questions this past weekend, most of which had to do with the lore of the game.

The session covered a wide range of topics, including Mordesh architecture, unseen galactic powers, a “competitive sport” that Herndon hopes the studio revives, Mechari origins, celibacy in the Vigilant Church, and how far away Nexus actually is from the rest of civilization (answer: so far that going there is a one-way trip for most). Herndon also provided a summary of the backstory of the entire game, which might be helpful for those starting out.

Ever wonder why there aren’t any kids in WildStar? Herndon reveals that this is intentional: “Lore concerning children and families is tricky to do in a game in which, for many practical and technical reasons, we don’t have children. This will probably not change any time soon. Just… pretend they’re just around the corner, or on the arkships, or in school.”
