Asta plans public beta for November 3

Will Asta succeed in the west after it failed in the east? That’s the question that we’re inching toward answering, as Webzen announced that the fantasy MMO import will be hosting a public beta for the month of November.

The beta test will commence on November 3rd and be open to anyone who would like to try out this so-called “Asian World of Warcraft.” The goal of the test includes shaking out the English version, stressing the servers, and giving players a first peek into the game. While progress will be wiped after the month is up, Webzen is promising a “special thank-you gift” to all participants.

You can sign up for the beta on the official website and check out the new trailer for Asta after the break.

tilles87 That would work if it weren’t for the fact the publisher was the only reason this died off.

Sythalin You do realize that NHN pulled out of the MMORPG business and that’s why this MMORPG was shut down there. They wanted out and wanted to go into the mobile games business instead. They had multiple games “die” in korea as a result.

tilles87 Let the market dictate if it fails or not. Asta is a unique case because it’s publisher is converting to all mobile

chosenxeno It was another NHN game since they’re moving to mobile only

ASTA is another NHN game, that’s why it was shutdown. Guess another publisher was able to pick it up

“so-called “Asian http://massivelyop.com/tag/world-of-warcraft.””

I love people who try to use this comparison.  I have no love for recent WoW, but trying to call a shut down game on-par with WoW is ludicrous, if not just downright insulting.

Well, that trailer didnt give us much to go by did it?
I hope they find a market here for their game, but it looks very generic.

That trailer was the biggest “meh” of the year. Why are publishers pushing failed eastern MMOs to the west? Cheap license? Quick profit?

Couldn’t play it if I wanted to. Webzen wont let me log onto my account and their’s no way I’m going to open a new email account just to play their games. I mean if Webzen can’t even get their accounts to work right what chance is their that they can competently run an mmo?

chosenxeno in KR they have alot of innovative mmo that dont bother coming here and only the top 10 mmo’s are actually cared …

This game failed where people will play anything. Why would anyone waste time on it in the West?
