ManastuUtakata Vexia True that. Finger-pointing typically does more stalling and group breaking than anything else.

My Fleet in Star Trek Online is much the same. I will do Special Task Force (i.e. “raid”) runs with most of them, because they’re generally good people — and the Fleet has a “help, don’t blame” policy.

Criticizing someone because they accidentally screwed up is seen as petty and boorish, and any players who do so will be asked to stop.

I was once a pretty crappy “raider”, and now I’m passable, largely because of the patience and support I got from the Fleet.

Cheers,

I had to find two great guilds in SWTOR to encourage me to try again.

For me, it happens when you’ve been waiting in a group-finder queue for what seems like forever — it finally pops — but then there’s that one player who lets the entire check timer run out before declining to join, and everyone else is back in the queue. Gaahhhh!

What makes me twitch are the guys who explain the battles so quickly and so sparsely that you basically have no chance of understanding what’s really going on — but you’re seen as holding people up if you ask a question, and you’re the goat if you screw up.
It’s why I generally don’t raid — too much stress!

Yeah, the “Yr doin it wrong” (even when you’re not) types really get tiresome.

CthulhuDawg Guessing Mo lives in EQ2, where raids are 4 groups of 6.

Raids are always fun until players start pointing fingers. Then its, “Do we really this many to bring down one stupid boss?” :(

Apparently Mo tanks.

My favorite was the guy who would check ready while standing just outside the encounter door line.
“Where’s Joe?”
“Other side of the door, I think.”
“Great.”
Joe –  “Hey.  How do I get to you guys?”

Hurrah for more raid love on Massively OP! :P
I’ve been in your +10 to cat herding shoes many times, Amilya. It’s the silence before the pull, and somebody pierces the air with a cry of “BRB!”
But for all the pains involved, I do think raiding is great. There’s nothing like people working together toward a common goal.

Yes, my first raid experience. I was so worried about the situation. Leader didn’t even bother explaining the fights. Watching people getting lost due to running into objects on follow was the best.

A 25-man raid, what boss is this??
Where are the healers?
Including Mo, I count 3 total Warrior types in heavy armor.  Why so many tanks in a raid?

And who is the newb wearing green armor to a raid? Blue or better, this is common knowledge.  Kick that newb!

WoW 40 man Molten core was best for raiding with absolutely no ready checks needed.  If you even tried a hunter would pull before you finished and in any event you knew that at least  10-15 people were afk, gonna mess about through the whole fight trying to get each other killed with Geddon bomb or in a different part of the dungeon/world altogether.

Great times.
