The race for 2016 is officially on.

Daum Games confirmed this week that Black Desert Online will be coming out in North America and Europe in early 2016. This Black Desert will be significantly different than the existing Russian and Korean versions, including its business model, which will be buy-to-play with an in-game cash shop.

Daum Games Project Manager Daniel Loehr indicated that much is being done to adapt the game to the western market: “We are putting a lot of effort in the game’s Western localization. We are localizing approximate 2.5 million words into English, German, and French. Black Desert Online’s content and gameplay sytems will be adjusted to accommodate Western players and our differentiating business model.”

Black Desert launched a teaser site and new trailer to mark the occasion, the latter of which you can watch after the break.
