Aion is coming to Steam October 29th

If your Christmas wish list includes adding Aion to your Steam library, you get an early present this year! NCsoft Associate Brand Manager Sean Orlikowski shared with us that the North American version of the PvPvE title will release on Steam this Thursday, October 29th. A platform for keeping all your games together (not to mention screenshots all in one place!), Steam also offers extras like emoticons, badges, and collectable trading cards. Here’s a look at Aion’s Deava- and Shugo-inspired offerings you’ll be seeing starting this week.

Xijit Sure, but hopefully the revolving door will be better for the game than the one-way out door.  :P

Could always fool Steam into thinking you live somewhere else I suppose.

I used to live there! Nice place actually.

That was also around the time NC Soft was trying to push their own launcher/distribution platform, ‘Play NC’.. Though that thing’s name went through several permutations… I think this is a sign of giving up that effort and just letting Steam take care of it for them.

Koolthulu It looks like it was removed from the steam store when the game went f2p. I don’t see anything official just community questions that hint at that.

Syco_at_Twitch I live in a third world country known as California, specifically the part near that backwoods known as San Francisco.
I can’t wait for modern technology to reach my neck of the woods.

You mean coming again to steam? I bought it awhile ago through steam when it still had a sub.

Yes, and they will open 5 more servers to handle all the new players before merging them back into the preexisting ones 3 months later after all of the new players frim Steam go back to playing TF2.

Tandor Shadewalker Damonvile BalsBigBrother Greaterdivinity I don’t know it still works but in the past you could install free to play games that are not listed on your region using steam protocol link like steam://install/XXXX where XXXX is the game id.

When did it go off Steam? I’ve still got it in my library from when it first launched.

I wish they would make a second part to the songweaver. Would be nice to see a musical class with a pet dancer… or something.

Lhumierre I expect this is how Wildstar will eventually redeem itself.  I figure the F2P launch as the soft launch, and once they get everything completely worked out, the Steam release will be the true launch that will pull people in who haven’t heard of it.

It’s pretty easy to say, it’s always favorable and definitely a benefit for games to be put on steam. Look at how that worked out for Tera it’s had numbers it didn’t have my entire preorder inaugural sub.

Damonvile BalsBigBrother Greaterdivinity According to a developer’s post on Steam:-

“Since GameForge holds license over the title in Europe, you won’t be able to download the NA version through Steam from a European location. The game it self doesn’t restrict based on region, but you won’t be able to download it through Steam until (if) GameForge decides to also release through them.”

BalsBigBrother Greaterdivinity Forced because gameforge made them ;) Because who the hell would ever use gameforge unless they were forced to by a region lock.

Greaterdivinity BalsBigBrother Yup I know but the article doesnt say one way or the other and it would be nice if it was clarified.  Also talking about clarification will they region lock the steam access to US customers only like Tera had to shortly after they went onto the steam platform.

Cards better used by selling them for recouping a minute amount of your cost.

BalsBigBrother I’d imagine this is NA Aion, since Gameforge would be the ones handling EU.

Damnit, I don’t think I’ll have the data to redownload this this month, been meaning to. Oh well, next month it will be, then.

Which Aion are they adding to steam?  EU Aion, US Aion, all the Aions worldwide?
