The latest Worlds Adrift dev blog talks up the game’s user interface, and more specifically a “diegetic UI” that is included in the game world. An example of this would be the game’s airship instruments, where things like fuel, altitude, and airspeed gauges are all UI components that are “part of the world and appear in-game.”

The game’s complex crafting system, on the other hand, works best with a non-diegetic display that appears to mimic traditional MMO convention. Worlds Adrift’s UI is far from finished, despite the breakdown in today’s post. The layout will change over time, the devs explain, and right now the focus is on perfecting the look and feel.
