Hi-Rez has posted an open letter to Tribes: Ascend’s community on Reddit. The forthcoming Out of the Blue patch is a huge undertaking for a four-person dev team, Hi-Rez says, but said dev team desired to see the game “return to form” and feel “more spiritually aligned” with older Tribes titles.
Simultaneously, the team’s goal has been to avoid alienating all of Ascend’s players, and the patch has since become a much bigger deal than simply “a couple of maps and small quality of life fixes.” The letter details a number of specific changes, and it also says that there are more possible combos than ever before due to additional weapon slots, the reduction of classes, the new weapon class system, and various new devices.
