Players are upset that Elder Scrolls Online is selling werewolf and vampire transformations

This may be a first for MMOs: A cash shop is selling infected bites. And the players aren’t too happy about it, although it’s not what you might first think.

Elder Scrolls Online is now offering a cash fast pass in its crown store to gaining a werewolf or vampire transformation for players’ characters. While the quests to gain these forms still exist in the game, some people feel that this store offering cheapens the system, deceives naive players, and offers an unnecessary shortcut.

“It almost seems like they are aiming at new players who have no idea you can obtain this in-game with very little effort,” one player noted. “They should at least point it out in the description of the CS item.”

ZeniMax defended the offering as a convenience item: “Just to confirm, you do not need to do the quest. Once you purchase either bite, you automatically are infected with either lycanthropy or vampirism. To reiterate what we’ve always said, crown store items are merely for convenience.”
