TOPIC SWTOR news segment
I will agree with Justin on this one, I think it is a form of bait and switch.  As of this post my account is going back offline and I will be devalued back two A preferred member.  For me, my whole drama is that Bioware/EA needs to show more love to the preferred members.  We have given you guys money and for the most part we are buy to play players.  All I ask, is for them to increase the money cap to 5 million credits and I would be a happy camper.  That way I can buy the most expensive thing that cost me for my legacy.  It would actually for me make the game my number one game instead of its current form the way it is.  Or, they need to introduce away for preferred members and subs get subscription tokens soul buy to play players like me and a lot of you I could imagine, could play the game at a subscription capacity.  Why should they care where the $15.00 a month comes from, as long as there getting it.  And if I have to earn it through grinding for two weeks set of a given month to be able to afford to pay for it, ” I’m cool with that”, and you keep me in the game and my buy something from the store instead.  You would get the subscription money and you would get my money from buying things on the store.  Just the thought, and I’m sure they can work out the cartel credits issue accordingly.

Cultural note: Japanese and Koreans treat Christmas more like we typically treat Valentines’ Day– a romantic night out for couples. They are very keen to finish up all major projects to start the new year fresh, though. New Year is the big-deal holiday for them.  In Japan, it runs from Dec 31-Jan 4, shutting everything down at that time. Everyone returns ‘home’ and Tokyo sort-of empties. In Korea, they follow a lunar calendar and while sometimes it coincides with western new year, their start to 2016 falls in early February this year. So… yeah, Koreans aren’t sweating the Christmas holiday schedules. :)

Syppi Enikuo Oh! Okay, thanks. I didn’t re-listen to the entire Trove interview. My bad.

With regard to the Lotro insta level up I would agree with the point Bree made briefly.  Being able to see the content at the end can be a big incentive to push through some not so great parts (which any mmo will have) with lower level characters.
Using insta level up in swtor that came with KotFE  allowed me to see the content that came with that expansion but also gave me the incentive to level up some of my other characters had been languishing in the mid to low on various planets.  Since then I have taken two other character to max which probably isn’t much to many who did the 12 xp thing and capped everyone but for me amounts to a lot of mmo playing.  I would never have done any of that if I never had the chance to see the end part and seeing the fun to be had there.

As far as Devillion goes I found it to be ok for an arpg but not really anything special.   I didn’t see anything that really made me excited enough to want an early acces pack or think I will spend any money on it.  I am sure that because its a an arpg I will put some time into it at some point but only if I am out of other options (and there are a lot of arpg options out right now so it may be a while.)

Enikuo Trion didn’t want us to reveal the new Trove class until Tuesday, so I took out a minute of the podcast for the early edition that dealt with that.

So, what was under embargo? Because, it seems to be the exact same recording. Was that just a joke and I missed it?

I think you’re partly right that the lack of enthusiasm for Devilian is related to the bad feelings around ArcheAge. I didn’t even play ArcheAge and I’m wary of another imported game from Trion. I feel like they earned that wariness. But, I’m also less enthused for Devilian because I already have Marvel Heroes, Diablo 3, Torchlight 2, and Titan Quest. Plus, I just learned that PoE lets you dual-wield vanity pets and have a corpse condo. I mean, come on! That’s cool.

I completely lost interest in Blade & Soul when I learned that their wardrobe feature is behind a subscription. The costuming was the main draw for me and with that being locked behind a sub, it would feel like a “begrudging free to play” set up that Justin was talking about. And, I’m kinda at that point where I have enough games that I feel great about that I don’t need to make it work for something new.

I actually purchased a few unlocks in SWTOR before I realized that their “premium” level really was just a glorified and monetized trial. People weren’t kidding. I had heard it wasn’t worth playing without a sub, but I thought they were just saying that because of the passes for stuff like raids and PvP. Nope! They meant stuff like not being allowed to equip quest rewards. I should have listened to the haters – they were right. All I have to show for my time in SWTOR is a pink droid and some rocket boots.

I love the enthusiasm of the Trove developers. Andrew always sounds like he huffed an entire box of pixy sticks or something – so much energy! (That’s not a criticism, just an observation.) I really hope they can pull off getting the servers moved and stabilized by the end of the year, like they’re hoping. I know it’s frustrating just in general, but I feel like it’s probably soaking up a lot of development time dealing with the servers all the time.

Great podcast, as always. Good luck to Justin with his microphone next week! You’ll get there. You just have to keep trying.

This needs to be in the massively overheard rotation.

Syppi agemyth I was wondering what was up with your sound the last few episodes.
I think you should not feel at all bad by blaming anything on the excitement and confusion, due to lack of sleep, of having a newborn.  All 4 of your little monsters will be blaming you for how they were raised for the bulk of their lives later on anyway so blame them while you can!
