Firefly Online extends development to work in the original cast

Sometimes even big damn heroes have to wait until a plan comes together.

Firefly Online, the official online RPG that will be continuing the adventures of the 2002 sci-fi show, has been taking its sweet time getting to release. While it was originally supposed to come out in spring 2015, the dev team has kept it in testing due to the good fortune of getting most of the original cast to reprise their in-game roles. This will be a great boon to the game, of course, but it also required the team to restructure the game from the ground-up (as it was originally not going to feature any of those characters).

The reshuffling of the game’s focus and the working relationship between the three involved companies has kept Firefly Online news to a minimum for the time being. The dev team is looking at when it can start sharing what features this new version of the game will contain.

An official companion app for the game was released in January 2014 on Steam.
