Check out the experience of fighting Bless Online’s world bosses

You wouldn’t think that you could have world bosses without instancing in this modern age of MMORPGs, but Bless Online manages to have exactly that setup. The key, as explained by Steparu, is that there are a certain number of slots available for players to fight the boss, available on a first-come first-served basis. That also means that players have every reason to engage in the age-old art of killing other players to make sure that they don’t get to kill the boss, which means that you might spend as much time fighting each other as the enormous beast.

Check out a video of the boss fight, which includes more than a few sudden death mechanics clearly designed to destroy unsuspecting or suspecting-but-unready players in an eyeblink. Steparu claimed to enjoy the whole “fighting other players” aspect more than actually fighting the boss; watch below and see whether you can’t wait to fight the bosses yourself.

Nah. I do t like the idea of anything being marked as I hurts me. Playin BDO and seeing a guy there that I can’t help out with just because of an arbitrary rule bugs me to no end.

I love open world bosses, but the idea of letting anyone and everyone beat on them is such a bad way of doing it. Let parties claim it and it works well, otherwise it is just a mess.

I can’t… even WoW has gotten past these types of mechanics for the most part. Although I’m not a total fan of the way they are doing open world “rares” it’s still better than it used to be.

Zsokorad “It sounds like a bunch of 12 year old girls that are high on helium are yelling at each other as they frantically try to sort a pile of silverware that has been dumped onto a wooden table which is straddling the back of an elephant that is currently in the midst of a safari stampede.”

This is the best description ever!

Doesn’t GW2 have them already? Even wow have outworld bosses that are “tag free”…

Call me an old salty, but these insta-death mechanics just seem to generally be due to lazy or uninspired design.  Especially considering the fact that they can oftentimes be attributed to lag, which from what I have seen of this game, appears to be rather prevalent in it.

Zsokorad If the semi-nude figurines on my PC desk could talk, I’m thinking this is what they would sound like, lol.

Totally agree with everything you said.  My interest in this game has reached negative territory.

Developers really need to look at the MMO genre and come up with some refreshing ideas, after watching this its little wonder they’re losing interest amongst gamers.
