Path of Exile posts Ascendancy patch notes, preps Friday launch

The Ascendancy expansion for Path of Exile is on track to be released on Friday, but what are you supposed to do today? Stare at the wall? Throw rocks at a hornet’s nest? Read the patch notes for the expansion? Some fourth thing that makes a great deal more logical sense than any of the above? Probably that fourth thing, but the third one is good too! It’s less likely to result in boredom and/or easily prevented hornet stings than the first two.

Ascendancy centers around the the somewhat eponymous Trials of Ascendancy and the Lord’s Labyrinth, ultimately granting players access to Ascendancy Classes. Each core class has three different Ascendancy options, while the Scion has one option (but requires quite a bit of mastery to get there in the first place). Check out the full set of patch changes in the notes; it won’t quite take you until the expansion actually launches, but it should definitely pass the time. You’ll also be able to take part in the new Perandus challenge leagues when the expansion launches today. In the meantime, you can check out MOP’s own MJ’s recent PoE streams below.

I sooooo love this game. I’ve been playing for four years as a casual. I just keep coming back to it over and over after getting bored with everything else out there.

Ok, well… Skill builds are normally based around 5 links or 6 links; which are found at the end of the game. It makes playing self-found considerably harder (if that’s the type of play you choose). But, you can use a 4 link chest or weapon till you start mapping. You should be able play the style you want just fine… but it won’t be the “optimal” version of said build.
I’ve never used totems; as I find them quite boring.

Serious question. Have you played the game yourself; or are you basing your stance on other people’s choices?

It’s Friday! WOO!
Thanks for the reminder MOP!!!   =D
I hope that the new stash tab updates make it easier for the common folk to buy and sell items.

This game seems to be the epitome of the “the game begins at endgame” mentality.

These new sub-classes are only fully unlocked once you have run the labyrinth on all 3 difficulties, thus they will not be available for most of the game. Yet everyone is frothing about how OP or UP each of them are in various situations.

And even before this, the chatter and builds has been focused squarely on running maps. Something you only unlock for the last 30 or so levels. And during that time people will run with some skill gem or other (some totem seems to be popular) while filling out a passive tree that do not line up with the gem at all.

Its just bizarre to observe the community go at it.

Throw rocks at a hornets nest! Wooooooooo!!!!

Actually, I do love and play Path of Exile, it’s my other online go-to when I’m not playing ESO these days. I love building classes, and I finally unlocked the Scion last year, so I get to play with those as well, which was a welcome change.

I love what GG does, how they do it, and I’ve been more than happy to fork over cash for titles and cosmetic items, they deliver an awesome product, aren’t shady and I’m glad to reward them for it. :)

What should you do today? Theorycraft with the new passive tree, skills, uniques, ascendancy classes, keywords and enchantments of course!
