dorn2 “You’ll never have a hardcore game again.”

Maybe. There’s certainly a niche that likes the endgame progression raiding system though. I think more likely you’ll see more games like that, they just won’t also try to attract everyone else like Wildstar did, and will have nowhere near the same budget.

dorn2 Wait, Wildstar is hardcore?

Was I playing it wrong? It didn’t seem like that to me.

Personally, this week hasn’t been the worst, although I had a vacation so maybe I’m still seeing everything as ok.  Wildstar is god awful and can completely fall off imo.  Last thing we need is “Wow in space” and obviously the gaming community agree’s with me.  The Wowification of Everquest is over with the cancellation of Eq:Next.  Would have loved to see some of those mechanics but after how quiet they’ve been for AWHILE now, not surprised at all.

In the same week, EQ:Next is canceled and Pantheon:Rotf showcases on twitch.  Heh, some gamers must be committing seppuku.  If only it were the trolls..

dorn2 i really love wildstar but i have to say it not feel hardcore for me.
for me it felt like any other endgame in good mmos.
Doungeons->raids but also have alot of things like housing, contract, reputation.
*really dont know why this game not have more players :S

the only bad thing i can say about the game is the leveling to max level but after that its haven to pve players… i realy hoped the cn launch would save  the game but now all we have to is wait & enjoy from drop 7

The saddest news was reading Mike Donatelli has cancer, makes everything else look so pointless.

Tenthyr The bold sentences were the hardcore ones; the ones in standard weight font were for the casual readers.

Why did you feel the need to bold every overy sentence.

I’m curious if any of the hardcore types regret burning down their own Nirvana.  @Lethality now that your game is dead do you regret foaming at the mouth every time someone wanted more casual content?

Everyone crying about wellfare epics and LFR face roll etc, etc. dug their own grave.  You’ll never have a hardcore game again. Everyone will look at Wildstar and say “We don’t need hardcore content”.    It will be half a decade before they even consider that they probably need both hardcore and casuals.

Was it worth it?  Not only has Wildstar been ruined but hardcore development in other games will suffer as well.

The “MMO” market is more about clientele than mechanics: if it appeals to MMO players, Massively will cover it …
Those stupid card battelers are about as MMO as any given MOBA, but they still have been accepted into the “MMO” market because they are popular with players who identify themselves as being “MMO players.”
Fable Legends was “supposed” to be highly multiplayer, but so was every proceeding title and I personally never believed for a second that it would actually be anything close to a MMO.

Strange that canceling of Fable Legends and most likely closure of Lionhead Studios have not been covered here
