Sandbox Ascent: The Space Game’s new patch adds co-op combat, overhauled UI

Indie space sandbox MMORPG Ascent: The Space Game scored a “massive” update yesterday, so big the studio has nicknamed it the HyperMegaUltra update. “So many bugs have been fixed it’s ridiculous,” one-man dev team Fluffy Kitten Studios writes.

As far as content, the headliner is the addition of co-op combat — gather up some friends and go gank some pirate NPCs. There’s also a new single-player campaign quest line and a new ship. On the crafting end, there are now new forms of mining, new asteroid and metal types, and new modular buildable palaces for colonies.

Grumpy about the graphics? That’s still a work in progress; Fluffy Kitten notes that in this patch, it upgraded to Unity 5 for a “huge graphics boost” as well as “replaced almost every interface in the game with new UI by an industry professional. Less clunk, more wow!”
