Bossa Studios Lead Writer Matt Cook sat down for an in-house interview about his work in creating the story for Worlds Adrift. Cook cited Gulliver’s Travels as one of his biggest sources of inspiration for the game, saying that he found the travels between islands in the novel and discovering strange new things on each appropriate for Worlds Adrift’s setting.

Cook did say that there’s a lot of freedom in creating a new blending of fantasy and science fiction, since it’s a wholly new universe. “Lots of games have big fantasy elements. This does have fantasy but the writing is mostly borderline, on the cusp,” he said. “Just overstepping into this magical world without fully falling into it.”
