Developing a game is expensive, and that’s why City of Titans has taken to Patreon… sort of. See, the developers are not asking for money just to develop the game; they’re asking for money for developing a comic tied into the game. Which will, in turn, pay for the game. That makes sense, doesn’t it?

According to the description on the Patreon page, the money raised through Patreon goes to the artists working on the game, while also funding further development on comics based within the world of City of Titans. This ensures that no matter what happens with the game, Patreon subscribers get something out of the exchange rather than just the vague hope of future game development. If you’re a fan of comics or of the team’s plan for a spiritual City of Heroes sequel, you can check out the pitch page and some of the sample comic pages.
