Wargaming geeks out over the 100th anniversary of the tank

The first-ever tank to enter the battlefield happened nearly 100 years ago on September 15th, 1916. And while your world is no doubt rocked by this revelation, Wargaming has completely gone bananas for this major historical milestone. Because the studio likes tanks, you see.

To mark the occasion, the World of Tanks studio will be holding an in-game event on the 15th that will include a model of the Mark I tank and a World War I scenario. Console versions will be treated to a trench warfare mode on the 14th and a new wooded Thiepval Ridge map.

The team also released a Tank 100 app for both iOS and Android that should educate you but good. When you’re done with that, take a 360-degree tour with Wargaming of the UK’s Tank Museum in the video after the break. Virtual reality goggles are encouraged but not necessary!
