EVE Online’s Ascension expansion launches today, dropping the subscription paywall that’s barricaded the game for well over a decade and further reducing the small pool of subscription-only MMORPGs left in our genre. While those who play the sci-fi sandbox and subscribe will indeed see significant perks that make the cost worth it, looky-loos, newbies, and returnees will be able to slip into the game to check out the new tutorial and consider playing, some for the very first time.
