WRUP: Testament from the helmsman of a doomed ship edition

Lord

If you are reading this, then it is as an epigraph. Had I survived to shore, I would have destroyed it. Instead, you are seeing what I know as I write it to be my final testament as the waters rise against the hull, as we slowly descend into the ocean which was the birth of all life and will soon host another collection of it. I write this testament not to mourn that the sea will serve as our tomb, but to let those who find this know one undeniable fact: We tried.

You are reading this and that means our efforts were not enough, that our ship sank beneath the waves despite our efforts and that is sad. But at the same time, it is also a sign that simply trying alone is not enough, nor should it be seen as a weakness of intent. We bore ourselves onwards and did everything to the best of our ability and it was not enough, but this was not a sign of weakness. And if I had the chance once more to grasp the helm, I would do so, knowing that I could not avert my fate but that I could steer headlong once more.

So What Are You Playing this weekend?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): I’m writing this on Black Friday before I brave the storm. No, I don’t really need anything, I just haven’t physically seen Black Friday sales in over 4 years, so I’m putting on my anthropologist hat (and Pokémon Go Plus) and exploring a bit. Hey, maybe I’ll find a Ditto today!

Assuming I survive, I may be doing some Pokemon Moon (feel free to tweet me if you’re playing!), Heroes of the Storm, or Overwatch, as I’ve neglected those for several days and feel quite behind, especially on the events!

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Gotta log into Marvel Heroes for my freebie, and if it’s like last time, I’ll get sucked into that. I’m also hoping to catch up on Guild Wars 2! Now, about my Steam wish list…

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I wound up rather unintentionally playing through all of StarCraft II over the past week or so (and boy, it’s a good thing the game is fun, since the plot turns into hot garbage until the mission pack that’s apparently the last part of the story), but this weekend I’ll probably be focusing on the usual in Final Fantasy XIV. Perhaps World of Warcraft as well, although constant streams of bad luck with regards to randomness (i.e. almost every reward system in the game) have rather cooled my affection at the moment.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’ve had a couple of Steam games gifted to me recently, so I might use the time this weekend to dive into them. I hear ARK: Survival Evolved is somewhat popular…

Apart from that, more RIFT: Starfall Prophecy leveling and World of Warcraft world quests. I got my first legendary the other day!

MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): I will most likely spend pretty much all my gaming time in ARK: Survival Evolved. We have a taming and breeding event going on now, so I’ll be taking advantage of that. I’ll also get some Lord of the Rings Online in. Otherwise, I am going to be trying AdventureQuest 3D on my new phone.

Pierre, patron: Back to FPS/TPS games. First, The Division, where the Survival DLC is an interesting mode that’s very challenging and loot-worthy. The second game is Destiny with its exceptional combat balance and feels. Enjoy your gaming weekend MOP readers; cheers!

Your turn!
