Crowfall answers player questions on server size and QA work

What ever happened to Crowfall's stretch goal for a QA lead? The answer is nothing happened to it; it's still a goal for the future, but at the moment the studio's finances are just such that the bug-tracking needs to be handed off to people already working on the game, including J. Todd Coleman himself. The work of tracking down bugs and issues is still being done, and hiring someone to lead the hunt is still in the cards for the future. But you needn't take our word for it, since you can watch the latest community Q&A in video form just below.

Many of this round's questions cover more general QA or technical issues; the game is still planned to allow 1000 people per campaign world as a bare minimum, but major optimization work has not yet been done on the server structure. There's also more information about how bugs are tracked internally and what's next for the game's milestone updates; check out the whole thing past the break.

Very good, no regrets for backing it even with the minimum tier. Can't wait to play the beta (i'm in group #3).

I'm pretty excited for this game. I regret not backing it because of the shinies.

Just to clarify, they said 1,000 concurrent players. So 1,000 players online at once, but total server capacity will be more than that. It's a pretty normal size and a good one probably for this game. They've said in the past if they can get 2,000 they'd like to do that, so we may see more in the future.

@Leilonii plus there will be more servers than normal since they'll be dying and being made, so it's not like a static thing like server concepts in other games, and that will grow as they optimize further anyway

They can also bring up servers pretty easily with how they are handling it with amazons service. They are thinking ahead quite a bit, I have a lot of confidence in ArtCraft as they have shown me quite a bit throughout this whole development stage that they are very competent.

The Big World Alphas have been very playable and enjoyable. Minor latency issues, but its to be expected in an Alpha. There are released games that have more ping/latency/server issues than CF is having in their Alpha atm, ArcheAge and TERA come to mind.
