Play any hero from Heroes of the Storm this weekend for free

Blizzard has a giant "ICYMI" for MOBA Heroes of the Storm players -- or maybe lapsed/future players -- this weekend: The studio is turning the entire hero roster free-to-try temporarily starting Friday.

"2016 was an incredible year for Heroes of the Storm. We introduced of tons of new Heroes, features, events, mounts, skins, and even more to the Nexus, but just in case you missed it, you can check out the video below that recaps all the epic content we added to the game last year. To kick off 2017, celebrate everything that has happened in the past year, as well as everything we have planned for the year to come, we’re inviting everyone to enjoy three days of a completely full Hero roster from January 13–16!"

The studio is also talking up its recent patch, which replaced the vulnerability/resistance system with the new armor system and followed up with a light balance tweak for multiple heroes. The video of all the heroes you can play for free is tucked down below.

I like this game a ton. Mainly because it focuses on team play rather than solo divas

I like HOTS because it lets you play all the most iconic Blizzard characters you've known for years. A playable Diablo is what drove me to download the game. I remember Zul'Jin from WC2 and he just got added last week, total nostalgia.

The fanbase for this game is there but it's my personal opinion it hasn't really taken off because people are so devoted to League and DotA. The same quirk that keeps WoW #1 is what holds HOTS back. Kinda funny when you think about it.

Coo, HotS is legit if you don't try to play it hardcore.

It's my go-to low-stress moba. Scratches the itch and I don't walk away furious at people.

@Armsbend @PizzaDoh Probably because a lot of the super serious players already quit for a more highly competitive game XD

@PizzaDoh I've been getting back into ranked a bit and even it isn't as furious as other mobas.

@Armsbend @PizzaDoh should be but....ppl take that attitude and then you end up in games where the team sits in their lane and ignore events, enemy pushes etc and if you say anything you get told to relax and just have fun.

It's like the internet is incapable of finding a middle ground between all or nothing.

@Armsbend @PizzaDoh I have over 800 hours of TF2 logged, the best memories of that game weren't highly competitive matches, in fact winning or losing didn't affect how my night went at all, it was when everybody on the server was using their mic, joking around, chatting, shit talking (playfully), etc.

I never get that any more when I play games. Nobody's joking around, if you try to have a fun lively chat in games like Overwatch you're usually called a troll who's ruining the game by not trying hard enough.

Part of it is the lack of player owned servers, there's no local overwatch community servers I always jump into that has familiar members online I get to know. It's really damn hard to make friends in a lot of games now because you never see the same faces again and because everybody's a stranger, they feel it's okay to act like a jackass because they have no reputation to upkeep, the only thing they can gain from each match is a win.

....I should stop ranting.

@PizzaDoh that is probably accurate.  I really think people should re-wire their thought process on ranked across all games personally.  99.9% of players cannot go pro and never will so why bring anger into the field at all?  I get people don't do exactly what you want of them but who cares at all really?  If you are bronze, silver, gold or diamond you aren't, and will NEVER be pro.  Never even close.  It's you not just the people next to you.  so just chill out and have a good time and get some fun avatars in the process.

When  I was on console I never wouldnt play shooters unranked - because there was no pro scene but I still wanted to be near tryhards.  Thats the way most mobas shooters should be imho.

@Damonvile @Armsbend @PizzaDoh Yep.  Just play the game correctly, so not to inhibit the enjoyment of others.  The difference in a pro and good player can be just pure reflexes and practice with their team.

I dread PvP, because of not usually having a group on voice in which I am familiar.  Don't expect them to be amazing, just follow directions! Going solo for me is a nightmare.

Played my first PvP match in months yesterday morning and was thrilled (after much prodding). I was the tank and they followed my lead.  Just like a PvE raid, you are raiding other people and some NPCs. The mechanics are simply hitting objectives quickly.  You make a decision and go, go, go.  I watched a replay and we beat them to the punch so many times, by just working as a team.

The healer was scared they weren't good enough, while one of the dps was very hesitant.  We usually just run elite level PvE matches. The group had another person I didn't know and a PUG.

Here is proof that I actually led and won a MOBA match.  I am now retired until next quarter. Premade WoW PvP really burned me out, back in the day!

Also, look at their overall damage versus ours.  Shows you teamwork is the key, not pure numbers.
