Revelation Online plots third closed beta, offers new trailer

My.com has announced a third round of western beta for Revelation Online. CBT3 will begin January 19th and run until the wee hours of February 2nd.

Of note, this round of play will include a level bump to 69, three new dungeons, three new missions, the new Faerie Funland map, two new events, badges, updates to scour dungeons, and six new PvP modes.

Keys from the first and second round of beta won't get you into this round, unfortunately -- the studio is pushing folks toward founder packs, which include access. There won't, however, be a character wipe going into CBT3.

In the meantime, check out the brand-new Spiritshaper trailer below.

But what did she agree to in exchange with that contract?  Cause that sort of thing never works out well.

Reminds me of their previous trailer with the assassin. I love how they're not holding back and try to mess with my feelings.

I hope the game does well on the story telling side. Even if the rest might be a bit 'eh'.

Wow. That was really sad. I don't know jack about the game.

Let me know if they translate the language to the market that they're testing their product in.

uh yeah. looks like pretty much everything that has come out of korea the last...5 or 6 years i want to say. i see nothing new or different or innovative or even iterative here.

I was doubting about getting a Founder's Pack, but saw too many things I disliked to get one. Main things:

- typical Asian flashy screen-wide effects combat where one player kills mobs by the dozens, I find this very off putting
- ridiculous cat mount in Founder Pack
- stupidly big unrelealistic looking weapon(s)
- very easy dungeons similar to B&S (I did not play RO, got this from watching beta streams)
- reportedly combat is similar to B&S but "clunkier" / less responsive feeling

Was my main complaint but I wouldn't even put it in the same league as B&S. Similar? No way.

@Veldan from someone that played CBT and B&S, you are pretty much right on.

Hehehehe, level 69. Still waiting for "open beta"/launch for this one. I'm cautiously optimistic, but not expecting much.

The days of me spending $50+ for a "Founders Pack" to get into a beta, for a game that I lose interest in 30-60 days later are over, sorry RO.  I'll wait for the open beta.  I've been burned by so many MMOs - BDO, AA, etc.

Plus I have so many free options - I have Diablo 3 sitting on my desktop which is good mindless carnage, ESO, SWTOR, I can play WoW for free up to level 20, I enjoy the lower level BGs.  No need to invest into an MMO unless you can try if for free first, and no, I don't care how many CGI videos you give us, gameplay matters.

I avoid founder packs like the playground these days, maybe if they included account wide cosmetics I'd consider them again..But 25++ for things I can only have on one character? Nope, done with that.

On the bright side they made it so you can buy multiple founder packs, that's a good compromise riiiight?

@Krucible   Agreed!  While I don't necessarily avoid the packs, I definitely will not purchase JUST for Beta access, or without actual playtime to at least try it out.  The "perks" associated with the packs sure aren't a reason, especially when MY makes a point of the disclaimer that they can reskin and sell any of them in the future :D!

Ok.  Well, I enjoyed the first 2 betas.  As I got the key for free, I understand the desire to monetize the third beta but that's will not work on me. Lol.  I'm not complaining.  My.com can do as it sees fit, but it's the old argument:  Beta's should be betas, not cash grabs.

In any event, I did enjoy the game and I hope my inputs helped in a small way get the game ready for launch.  I'm still on the fence on if I will play regularly, but I certainly can't deny the various opportunities to do just about anything you desire in this game.

It is mostly and open world.

It caters those that like dungeons as well.

PvP looks to be quite fun with different modes including clan vs. clan.

It has a wealth of content for group play and solo play.

It has group emotes which are very interesting.

Combat is quite interesting with many action elements and yet allowing tab targeting for those that need it.

**Crafting, I'm not to sure about.  In beta it was hard to do any at all given everything else I was jumping into.

Net, net worth a look, but not for a founders pack.  I look forward to Open beta and launch.

@DigitalQ The trailer?  Yes.  Pretty dramatic for a class intro which is a good thing.

I think our pink pig tailed friend who frequents this site will be pleased.

Keys from the first two betas won't work on the third? Seriously? For as many localization issues as this game had in the first two betas, you'd think that they'd be begging people to submit translation issues as opposed to pushing them to buy (overpriced) founders packs.

But who am I kidding? It's My.com

@realwords Possible also that they are going to give media another round of keys -- they've done it every round since. I don't know for sure.
