Final Fantasy XIV shows off new camera features coming with patch 3.5

You can do a lot with Final Fantasy XIV's /gpose feature. You have access to all sorts of camera options that you can use to create the ideal screenshot, something that really shows off your artistic side. And that's just with the feature as it stands now; when patch 3.5 releases next week, the feature is getting even more robust, allowing you to take even more elaborate shots and apply all sorts of filters.

Players will be able to position three separate light sources using the /gpose camera features, with each light source having variable position and hue. You can also loop certain emotes, use status expressions, add filters, adjust the roll angle of the camera... in short, you can do lots of things before you pick out just the right frame and take the screenshot. Just remember to at least complete some of the storyline quests before you spend an entire day getting ready for your close-up.

Now if I could just get a piece of raid gear from a raid instead of grinding macguffins...

@wonkyfinger Stop blaming those that prefer to grind their gear, rather than raid, for your bad drop luck.

I still think ARR is the best-looking MMO I've seen so far.  I really wish I could have gotten into it; just could not stomach the combat or dungeon mechanics.  For those of you who play, I am slightly jealous lol.  Cause it sure is gorgeous.

The game is gorgeous, but I wouldn't be jealous if I were you. The game gets really tedious after a while, and begins to feel like a job. One of the things I really began to dislike was the fact that you really can't just log in for a few minutes and enjoy yourself. You have to spend at least an hour in-game just to feel like you accomplished anything remotely useful.

@Omniel Most mmo's can get tedious after awhile if you let it. What do you want to be able to in just a few minutes inside an mmo? I guess you would have to elaborate on what is remotely useful to you as I can think of several things you can do in a short time that some may find enjoyable. Crafting, Trials roulette, Gold Saucer stuff, most roulettes don't take more than 20-30 minutes to do, a round of palace of the dead, gathering, beastman quests, a round or two of the feast, etc. What kind of things do you do in othe rmmo's that are remotely useful in just a few minutes?

@Omniel it's because you can pretty much max gear in a few months and have nothing to do since you can do all end game content at that point. That's why I just stop my sub for a few months then resin again. Other than that, the game is incredible, story mode that rivals any single player game, solid gameplay, lots of life skills, side stories, etc etc, definitely worth your sub money

@Omniel I've always felt the same way about it. Besides the fact that the combat system practically forces you to use your attacks in a certain order, repeatedly, the open-world doesn't really offer much. Unlike BDO or something similar, there's not much incentive to go out and kill monsters outside crafting (and god help you if you're not into that). You can't go fight mobs to level so if you're trying to level you have to be prepared to dedicate at least an hour to the dungeon system (the queue plus the actual run).

Now we just need an auto-photo mode for those of us not skilled in screenshots ala Promptography from FFXV.

Real talk: FFXIV's screenshot features get more updates and support than some MMO's do in their entirety >.>

And stuff like this is why FFXIV is currently the best MMO on the Market, in my opinion.

@jmadfour I'm always surprised when on top of all the content they deliver, they also have tons of little quality of life improvements I had no idea were coming
