HEX and Gameforge are parting ways

HEX Entertainment released a newsletter today announcing that its TCG HEX: Shards of Fate will return to self-publishing. As publisher, Gameforge has been responsible for operational procedures such as community management, customer support, promotion, sales, and marketing; going forward those duties, along with all other live operations, will be handled directly by HEX Entertainment along with all development.

Both companies assure that this mutually reached agreement will have no impact on the game itself, and that migrating accounts will be as easy as two clicks when you log into HEX. HEX Entertainment also expressed its excitement over the “many new features [it has] in store for the game.”

Re: http://massivelyop.com/2016/05/18/hex-has-purged-inactive-accounts-but-dont-despair-yet/

As I just got an email about this split, it seems my account wasn’t deleted as much as it was “deleted”.

One of the things I declared when HEX started is that we would only sell packs and decks but, as time rolled on (over three years now), it has become clear that this may not have been the best decision. We regularly see players asking for fun cosmetic additions to the game. We want to add them too. In the past, we’ve used these items to reward gameplay, but now we want to provide the opportunity for you to buy some of them as well.

ugh. I hate cosmetic add ons.

Interesting. I remember getting quite worried after learning about the publishing deal with Gameforge. To be fair Gameforge didn’t blow it in anyway I can tell.

Oh hey I downloaded Hex recently. While I cannot speak for how well Gameforge ran the game I would be lying if I didn’t say this news makes me more inclined to play rather than less.

Will have to hope things work out for Hex and that they have a bright future.
