PAX East 2017: Dauntless reveals new trailer, plans 2017 launch

Keeping an ear to the ground for Dauntless news? You should be: It’s a co-op ARPG from Phoenix Labs, an indie studio made up of former BioWare, Riot Games, and Blizzard devs. It’s expected to launch on PC later this year as a free-to-play (and apparently online) title that focuses on basic cosmetics and boosts to fund development costs.

It’s not massive, mind you, but it’s worth a look for multiplayer fans. The new PAX trailer is below.

I live here in Boston and everyone i know was hyped about Dauntless more than anything else at Pax. Its all people were talking about as far as video games went. And next it was all about the board games that were there. I know about 20 people that walked out with new board games. Maybe Massively should add a board game section. Some of these board games are really deep and take hours to complete.

Is Dauntless a more westernized version of Monster Hunter? I liked the look and the fact I havent seen any begging about it yet.

err never heard of this game? Is it an actual open world MMO, or is it like monster hunter?

I don’t think we’ve gotten any details on what the game is like outside of the hunt, but I’m pretty sure it’s similar to Monster Hunter in the sense that you can team up on the baddies with three other friends.

Perhaps the main hub world will be like other MMOs and will let us interact with the entire server (unlike MH, which only allowed you to interact with a maximum of 4 people at any time).

I like the wound details that show up on the monsters as they take damage.

Continue to be down with this. If the Monster Hunter MMO won’t come West, this will suffice as a replacement.

I can’t wait to play this. Dauntless is bringing in great Monster Hunter aspects to PC gaming.

A studio made up of former BioWare, Riot Games, and Blizzard devs will have considerable outside funding and I don’t think it should be called an indie studio. Each of them could earn a decent salary as a programming/design/artist senior.

Isn’t the indie hype already over? Do we really need useless and untruthful buzz to market games?
