WRUP: I am not hiding illegal weapons in a lizard edition

Good morning! How are you? I’m good. I’m very good. I am not hiding illegal weapons in a lizard. Can I get you something? Tea, laxatives, snake venom antidotes? There is no snake venom in the tea, nor are there snakes hiding in the bathroom sink. Nothing for you? All right, then. Please, make yourself at home, this house is not infested by silverfish the size of VW minibuses. No one is watching you through a sniper rifle scope that I am aware of.

Are you all right? You seem tense. You are not being set up by the CIA due to being in this house. Perhaps you’d like to watch a movie without any subliminal messages inserted by Fidel Castro? What do you mean I keep saying disturbing things? Every reassurance I give you is factually true, you’re really jumpy. Just leave your What Are You Playing entry down in the comments, it won’t cause your computer to catch fire specifically.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): OK, this weekend I’ll try to play Crowfall finally. Naturally, Pokémon Go will happen as well, but I’m a bit more excited than usual, as there’s a whale watching event and open lighthouse (read: restricted gym) coinciding on the same day in the same location. There’ll be more people than usual, and hopefully some whales of the non-digital, non-player variety.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Hmm, between PAX and coming down with the plague that is currently happening to me as I type this, I’m not sure what I’ll be doing. My The Elder Scrolls Online sub is active, but I’ve actually spent more time in Guild Wars 2 this week, so probably one of those two again. I also picked up what looks to be an interesting trader-centric 4X mobile game (Star Nomad 2) and need to dig into that.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): I am going to be happy when I’m done with PAX, because driving up to Boston repeatedly? It’s not super fun. Final Fantasy XIV, though? That’s fun. I should play more of that. And, yes, my last week of WildStar as well.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): Is wanderlust hitting me just yet? …nah, I’m pretty content to ping-pong between Lord of the Rings Online and World of Warcraft, as I have both leveling characters and endgame characters in both. There are always other MMOs that might be worth playing, if I ever had the time, like FFXIV, Guild Wars 2, and WildStar, but truth be told, it’s always easier to stick with what you’re doing than head elsewhere.

MJ Guthrie (@MJ_Guthrie, blog): I am back home and back to gaming! I am seriously going to dive into as much as I possibly can. I have more challenges to bang out in order to get my The Secret World gravity skates, I have a cliffside home to finish in Conan Exiles, I have dinos to feed and tame in ARK: Survival Evolved as well as a few raids to do, mastery levels to gain in Trove, tradepacks to make and farms to tend in ArcheAge, houses to decorate in EverQuest II, and oh so much more. I haven’t been in Shards Online in a while, or Shroud of the Avatar, and so many others. Any chance we can extend the weekend by, say, two more weeks?

Your turn!

I was diagnosed with HepB 3 months ago and was devastated by the news. I have been ill and sore for over 10 years, with no one being able to figure out what was wrong with me. It was always written off as a virus or infection. Then 2 years ago the severe muscle cramps started. I had them from scalp to toes, and it was when they ran the full spectrum of tests to figure the cramps out, that they discovered the HepB along with severe Vitamin D deficiency, which I link to the HepB. I was so tired and nauseous and in constant pain. I am just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!!nothing was really working to help my condition.I went off the Sebivo (with the doctor’s knowledge) and started on hepatitis B herbal formula i ordered from Health Herbal Clinic, my symptoms totally declined over a 5 weeks use of the hepatitis B virus natural herbal formula the disease is totally reversed!! I never new there is power in ROOTS an HERBS until i met Med Lab Tec, a powerful Herbalist who gave me live again. My name is Andre , i reside in Maryland USA. After 7 years of Broken marriage, my Wife left me with one kid Ella. All because i was HEPATITIS B, I felt like my life was about to end and i almost committed suicide, i was emotionally down for a very long time. Thanks to a Great DR, who i met online on one faithful day when I was browsing through the internet, i came across a lot of testimonies about this particular Great Haberlist, how he has helped so many people. He has helped people to bring back their EX and cure so many disease, some testified that he restores womb, cure cancer , PBP, ALS, Hepatitis B and other sickness, and so on. I also came across a testimony, it was about a woman called Michele Paul, she testified about how Dr, Root an HERBS, made her to be pregnant after so many years of bareness and at the end of her testimony she dropped Med Lab Tec email address via:(email;medlabtec(AT)mail(DOT)com) whatsApp him on Mobile: +14243847770 After reading all these, i decided to give it a try and i contacted him and explained my problem to him and he assured me that in less than 2 months, i will get cure an my Wife will call me and beg for forgiveness but i thought it will not work.He told me the items that will be used to prepared the Roots an Herbs, When he had finished the preparation of the Roots the next 4 days he sent it to my door step an follow the directive in the next 2 months i start seeing changings an behold i went for test i was negative feel of Hepatitis B an my Wife called me and she was begging for forgiveness just as Dr has said, on this note i said there is every reason to share this testimony. Dr , is a really gifted man and i will not stop publishing him because he is a wonderful man. If you have a problem and you are looking for a real and a genuine Dr to solve all your problems contact Med Lab Tec, through his mail:(email;medlabtec(AT)mail(DOT)com) whatsApp him on Mobile: (+14243847770) He will help you solve all your problems. Once again thanks Med Lab Tec , for your good work. Beware of copyright to this authentication.

My new GPU came in the mail yesterday morning, so I’ve been going through my library of games, cranking up the settings and letting my eyes water from all the *shiny!*
Today I’ll be playing mainly ESO, DOOM and The Witcher 3 with a little bit of Far Cry 4, and GTA 5 sprinkled in.
Hope everyone has a great weekend! =D

Every WRUP makes me question what Eliot was on when he writes these. That’s one imaginative and creative mind. I’d be boring as heck if I wrote them.

Recently finished a replay of Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, nearly done with a replay of Majora’s Mask, and I’m finally about to dive into Breath of the Wild. I am so excited!
It’s been tough avoiding spoilers of the game and all the Twitch streamers I normally watch who have been playing the heck out of it.

Bree! Noooo! Keep your health up. D: Were this an MMO, you’d earn the title “The Afflicted” by now. :x

Diadem in FFXIV, rip Materia market. Beat Horizon Zero Dawn, fun game but not nearly enough quests and too much ‘ubishit’ style ‘fill out the map’ busywork. A solid 7/10 but man does it tease a far more interesting world set long before the events of the game.

Now playing Nier Automata and this is, in a word, ‘Special’. Remember the first time you played Shadow of the Colossus or Metal Gear Solid and you knew you were playing something just that much more different and important than another beep boop vidya gaem? Thats Nier Automata. I imagine a lot of mainstream gamers will dislike it but it is going to be a well regarded classic long after this console gens over and right now thats a very, very small list this is damn near the top of.

Also grabbed the collectors edition of breath of the wild, can’t get a switch for two more weeks but it was the last copy in any store near me and scalpers were buying them up to break up to sell each thing for twice the box price each and i didn’t want to miss it.

No i have not licked the cart.

with the uibisoft the game cliche i think people who haven’t played many are gonna get into the more recent ones more than people that have played alot.

and even then coming from quest grinding mmo leveling content shitfests it seems not that bad at all and hardly near as repeititve.

Reader
Danny Smith

It depends on the player. I explore so in horizon i was level 40 and had done most of the map by the time i did the 5th quest to go to meridian and i think there was only 15-20 quests in total after that. Considering theres only around 5 ruins and 6 cauldrons that act as ‘old world sci fi’ in the whole game its a lot of walking around woods or desert skyrim’ing up hills. Gorgeous hills but ultimately just exploring for explorings sake with not much interesting to find.

deekay_plus
Reader
deekay_plus

apparently zelda is more interesting to explore but the actual bits and pieces are less interesting. bit of a shame because the meme s are tight.

but i was worried it’d turn in to another nms… speaking of which sundial is streaming the new patch for us right about now so i’mmma get on that.

Not playing anything and I’m super bored because of it (sucks because for some reason I get crazy anxiety when I am bored and have nothing to kill time with). Hopped into Albion Online before they took servers down for their big update and wasn’t minding it for a bit but still waiting for the next bath of games to get into a playable state (Crowfall, Camelot Unchained, Sea of Thieves, etc).

This Path of Exile league is by far the most fun one I’ve had. I missed quite a few of the former leagues so it’s a giant sandwich of wtf just happened?

So, Path has consumed my leisure life. Again. I was thinking about it the other night – Path may be the greatest video game ever made. Or at least on the short list.

I am finding way more Legendary items than I am used to during this league which makes things interesting for a solo self found player. You are right though the league stone combinations certainly keeps you on your toes and is lots of fun.

Still catching up to the MSQ in FFXIV. Gating the actual storyline behind ilvl requirements is the most idiotic thing Sqeenix could’ve done. It’s absurd that for somebody who just recently came back to the game to have to grind non-stop for weeks just to get enough gear to be able to move the story forward.. that same story that’s required to be completed prior to the expansion coming out.

Don’t get me wrong. The story is worth the effort – 100%. But if i have to run Aetherochemical Research Facility one more time, i will strangle a lizard.

After replacing some older components in my desktop (GPU, motherboard, PSU, HDD), I’ve reinstalled a couple games I’d not played in a while. It’s been a few years(!) since I last played TERA, so I’ve been having another go this past week. I was a Founder back in 2012, so there are a few nice perks. I rolled a Human Warrior, and am a bit beyond the new tutorial and into Velika. ESO remains my main game, but I still enjoy the diversions from BDO, and B&S as well.

Late-night I can play Winning Putt (using just a mouse), kick up my feet and binge-watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of its premiere.

I’m playing old games these days. Tired of the newer mmo’s and the communities in them. Even enjoying one game that got alot of hate because of Derick Smart. And one of them is an emulator so i don’t know if i can name it.

You can name it. Post-AOL, I’ve found MassivelyOP to be pretty emulator-friendly. I have a WoW Lich King private server running in my basement.

Well the emulator is Earth & Beyond. And the guys that put it together did an amazing job. Its just like it was when it was running. Plus they added all the missing classes that EA left out. If anyone misses this game you need to check it out.

If I were writing this last night, my answer would have been “I’m going to finally get around to finishing the Delera’s Tomb questline in Dungeons & Dragons Online, voiced by Gary Gygax himself, and earn the “Voice of the Master” trinket which has the awesome extra effect of giving you a 5% earned experience bonus when worn”. But … I got up early, (Warning! Spoiler immediately ahead!), killed the necromancer, and picked up that sweet, sweet trinket ten minutes ago.
So … for the rest of the weekend, in between taking my daughter to a 10-year-old birthday party and knocking off all the chores I gleefully ignored all week, I’ll hang out in Lord of the Rings Online, doing the Treasure Hunt, possibly my favorite in-game event of any game ever. My main and every one of my alts has a store-quality horse, pony or goat (some more than one!) that I won in this event without having ever spent a penny (note that I’m happy to spend money on the game here and there, mostly to support SSI and keep the servers up; just not in this event).
If I have some early morning time when my son isn’t glued to the Xbone, I’ll fire up my Xbone MMO of choice – The Elder Scrolls Online, which I don’t get to play very much due to the aforementioned son tying the console up.
If I have a hankering to play a single player game, I’ll be continuing my romp through Planescape: Torment, which I really, really want to finish before firing up its spiritual successor Torment: Tides of Numenara, which I kickstarted some crazy amount of time ago.
Have a great weekend everybody!.

Can I ask you a question @zoward, as you seem to be familiar with Dungeons & Dragons Online?
I’ve been looking from afar at DDO as some kind of strange beast for years now, refraining myself from trying it, because from what I understood on the gaming system in this MMO, it seemed hardly playable solo.
I don’t really have any friend interested in playing this venerably old MMO, but I feel the temptation to try it quite often. Can you tell me if it’s playable solo or if group play is mandatory? Thanks in advance. ;-)
And have fun in Torment: from all the testimonies I’ve read on this game, playing it seems much more enjoyable than testing it to write a column on a videogame website :D.

With no little sadness I put away LOTRO because I couldn’t stand the questing grind anymore. I also put away Mass Effect with no sadness whatsoever after doing the math and discovering the dlc would cost me three times what I paid for the games.

With a level of surprise bordering on shock I’m playing SWTOR again, purely as a single-player experience and only for the class stories. As a nice bonus there’s now a vendor item that lets me disable the excessive XP bonus. This is probably my last hurrah with MMOs, so at least I can take my time and enjoy the sights.

Yes, because paying for an expansion that takes place in an endlessly dark, dreary, landscape full of endgame grind will make it better. Especially after he noted that he didn’t want to pay for additional content in another game.

Reader
Hirku

I’m always happy to pay for additional content. Getting reamed for additional content, not so much.

Reader
MesaSage

That’s too bad about Lotro, because you were so enthusiastic just a few weeks ago. I know what you mean, though. Unfortunately, that grind is baked in to sell you convenience items. SSG doesn’t have to accept blame or credit for that (yet) because it’s legacy. I’ve given in many times to the grind and either quit playing or spent my points on buying the boosts. There’s just no way around it. Some of the things that really get me after a while is most apparent in places like Forochel, where the quest giver and the quest location are on opposite sides of the region with no swift travel in between. You can, however, purchase a ride to the quest location for just a Mithril! (sigh) Too much of that wears on your goodwill.

Reader
Hirku

Yeah, the backtracking was what did it for me. I’m too used to phoning in my quests in TSW or unlimited fast travel in SWTOR. I yelled at Radagast the Brown to have sexual relations with himself when I came back from some ruins after killing wights and the next stage of the “epic” was to go back to those same ruins and kill some other wights.

Reader

Funny you should mention that because I stopped going to the festivals for just this reason. I used to take all of my alts through the events to get whatever mount or tablecloth they were giving but after a particularly grueling Winter Festival a year ago, I swore them off. It burns me out to do that repetition every day, perhaps 8 times. I quit them cold turkey after that. I admit that I did show up with one alt for this years, just to get that damn mount. That you find it relaxing is curious to me, but I guess one man’s relaxation is another’s grind.

That is, unless you try leaving your comment through me, the Sega Box – a day-one patch included some buggy code, and unfortunately, leaving comments can result in a fire. But it’s okay! We fixed it by changing the EULA; now leaving comments is against the terms of service, so it serves you right, you sooty-pawed bandits.

Still plugging through Horizon Zero Dawn. I’m one of those super cautious types, so I’m always running around and gathering stuff so that my supplies are always maxed out when I go into a story mission; and I’m doing pretty much all the side quests possible as well. So after close to two weeks of playing it, I’m about half way through; and I’m well aware of the fact that there’s people now on a third or fourth play through: the fact that you can enjoy it the way you want is part of its brilliance; and I wish more MMORPGs would learn that lesson and stop forcing players to jump through the hoops as they want the players to.

Also, after much drama with NCSoft support I managed to get to log back into Wildstar to claim a free level 50. Chua Warrior, yeah! When I played at launch, the only character that I was every able to get to 50 was a spellslinger, so the raw survivability of a warrior is a nice change. I’m not likely to actually play much beyond a couple more hours today, but it’ll be fun while it lasts.

been waiting on shane nelson to stream horizon for us. he set up twitch on his pc again and streamed poe last night so perhaps with some nagging and peer pressure he’ll get on the game we really wanna watch him play (as no one else has ps4 in guild afaik).

i made a cute zombie people girl engineer. my warrior lowbie alt doesn’t feel like the attacks have much impact to me even tho warrior is definitely one of the stronger classes in game both pve and pvp. but spellslinger is also my fave and only natural 50 as well :P

I’d considered trying out some streaming on the PS4 with Horizon just for gits and shiggles, but I’d be a terrible to watch: about 75% of the time you’d be watching me run from plant to plant gathering supplies; and the other 25% of the time would be me hurling F-bombs at my monitor while I suck at stuff that guys who haven’t been playing MMORPGs almost exclusively for 15 years do effortlessly.

which brings us to my video shares this week. first one up is i had some nice bits of footage of grw and i had jc’s hurt in my head after watching logan and thought it fit together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhzWuWfzI5A

2nd one is the song from the launch trailer and just showing off some ok sniping action lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToYp8N3Cq7w

Final Fantasy XIV Anima weapon. Must Anima weapon. Umbrite step is over, thank god. Now I just have to get… 23 more Singing Clusters, at 150 Allagan Tomestones of Lore a pop, which is… 3450 more Lore. I currently have… 695 Lore. This is workable, given that there’s a daily for 1 Singing Cluster, and a weekly for 10 Singing Clusters that resets on Tuesday morning. I’ll have my Singing Clusters step out of the way Tuesday morning, I’m sure, if not before then.

Then? LIGHT FARMING! HOORAY!

Same as most days now: Merrily trucking along through story content and world completion in Guild Wars 2. I’ve only been in the game world for four years, its time I actually started playing through it.

I also grabbed the free 50 in Wildstar, who I’ve found now needs such luxuries as runes, healing potions, and gold. I may poke at that as well.

I see Elliot has been licking the special toads again in time for the weekend :-)

I hope I will be playing some combination of Lotro, ESO or PoE, all the acronym games it seems. Exactly what depends on family commitments that in no way involve toad licking of any sort.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun gaming weekend o/ (and remember to only lick toads after consulting with an expert though Elliot is at Pax so you may have to wait a little while).

Leveling my Dank Knight in BDO. I still haven’t patched the 14GB Conan Exiles update. Need to get on that because I want to play some more and I have been playing The Witness and Street Fighter V as well.
