One Shots: The Candy Man

If you have a sweet tooth or diabetes, you may want to avoid the temptation that we're about to put in your path with today's headlining picture from the MOP community. It's... the Candy Man, as delicious as he is deadly.

"On the topic of sweets, this screenshot from Heroes of the Storm is one of my favorite things ever," writes Little Bugbear. "Sometime it's difficult in MOBAs to find a character and skin that fit you perfectly. For me Kandy King Muradian's pink beard and overwhelming decadence makes it the pinnacle of MOBA skins."

Amen to that. I just want a small nibble, is that so bad?

"Seeing as The Repopulation servers are back up, I thought I would go take a look," said BalsBigBrother. "Ran around a bit, couldn't remember what to do and then logged out as I didn't really have time to figure it out. Not sure I have the will power or motivation to do much more to be honest."

You forgot to win the game, man. You forgot to win the game.

Vexia wanted to share a few "interesting sights from my Revelation Online playtime." If this is interesting, then I don't know if I could handle "fascinating," because my mouth is on the floor at the glory of this picture. Love the water reflection!

Kayweg recorded this interesting tableau from The Elder Scrolls Online, which instantly brought to mind a few questions. Was it the drink that killed him? How did he manage to decompose without dropping his arm? Does someone in this house have macabre taste in decorations?

"His conquering days are over," said Kayweg. "Not the worst way to go, mind you."

The next time you happen to be in outer space, perhaps scouting the far edges of the galaxy for unexplored star systems, you may look up and see Captain Crow there being all manner of awesome.

Crow took this shot while refueling in Elite Dangerous: "As a bonus, a nice bright mainline class K sharing a binary orbit with a collapsed carbon star while fuel scooping."

It seems like it's been getting a little quieter than normal in the One Shots comments section as of late. Everyone OK? Print screen buttons working properly? Let's see if we can break three digit comments this week to raise some eyebrows!

Every week, One Shots shines a spotlight on the best community screenshots from your MMO adventures. If you have a great pic to share, email it to justin@massivelyop.com with the subject "One Shots." Make sure that the picture is over 880px wide and comes with a description or story!

Late to the One Shots party this week! Mostly because we spent roughly from 7:00am to about 10:00pm yesterday in our new-ish Ark server. Dear god can time fly in a sandbox. We have our server configured to give a ton of mats, to speed progression through the earlier levels (which we've done 3-4 times already) while keeping most of the world's danger intact. As a tribe-of-two we always find ourselves hamstrung by mat gathering eventually, so we decided to address that in our server ruleset. Our list of accomplishments from the day is long, but includes taming a Bronto, Carno and three Pteros. I tend do to do the building while my partner does most of the hunting/gathering, and my proud moment was finishing a greenhouse. Despite playing a bunch of Ark we'd never completed a greenhouse before, so it was wicked exciting and very pretty.

I still have yet to make it to Sol in Elite: Dangerous, as I'm needing to grind out a bit more scrip before I'm ready to break away from my mission running loops. I may end up putting my Cobra on a diet and heading out to the Horsehead Nebula or a similar near wide-field exploration target. Either that or just doing more bounty hunting and undermining. My hands have recovered enough for me to be able to dish out some punishment without pain.

In the randomized order: Arial view of our starter compound in Ark; Greenhouse at night; Inside the greenhouse prior to germinating; Two pics of a terrestrial world from different perspectives; Lastly a beautiful FSD burn toward a small gas planet.

Woohoo my first one shot picture, and I don't know if Muradin will let you taste his armor Justin.

Image one: Is me and the boyfriend in Hots playing Cho'gall. I love how when you play Cho'gall it puts both players name together. Our names turned into Lic'sRex it sounds like some kind of industrial cleaner..

Image two:Is the outland sky, in Hellfire Peninsula.

Image three:Is my desktop background right now.

So, just wading into Mass Effect Andromeda. As a long time fan of the series, I amazed at how much better character creation is in MMOs. Seriously. But... I digress.

Here are a few quick caps from BnS in the world of MMORPG, however. Still playing that game and not slowing down even with the launch of Ghost Recon and MAE.

Cap #1: But first, a public service announcement: "Remember kiddies, don't eat and aggro. A res is a terrible thing to waste."

Cap #2: Look Uta! A pink storm is coming to BnS!

Preloaded and ready to go on release (no early access for me), looking forward to it but with some mixed feelings as it's a ME game without being Shephard.
I just hope the story and gameplay will compensate the apparently bad animations and models.
Oh and the OST better be good, splurged on the deluxe edition especially for that :)

Reader
Malcolm Swoboda

I like the OST but it won't be everyone's cup of tea (previous trilogy OST fans or otherwise).

Reader
rafael12104

Origin early access? Me too! So... there is so much to say about it and I don't think this is the place but, Mass Effect Andromeda: It will scratch that RPG fix for you, and the animations will keep you stitches too, unintentionally I might add. Lol.

Kudos. Hope you are having fun.

Having replaced many older computer components earlier this year, I reinstalled my most-played games. I hadn't thought of TERA much recently until this little column about 10 days ago: http://massivelyop.com/2017/03/08/tera-flips-on-the-switch-to-its-crazy-test-server-renames-the-paragon-to-valkyrie/

Having bought a Founders CE at launch almost 5 years ago now, I was willing to embrace the wacky world of TERA's high-fantasy, police car mounts, Hello Kitty themes, shockingly inappropriate general chat in Velika and, most importantly, some of the best action combat to be had in an MMO (and perhaps a temporary diversion from ESO).

I essentially started over with a human female Warrior, and have been having a lot of fun. Here she is with the Golden Dragon weapon skins...outrageously comical in practicality, but you've got to embrace the insanity and go with it!

Destiny is an MMORPG which uses shooter mechanics for the action, even if Bungie doesn't want to admit it. So, here are a few screenshots from my adventures in the game.

Most of these are just pics of my character standing about in The Last City (on Earth), although I did manage to get a nice pic from a cutscene, as I was about to enter a foreboding temple on the Moon.

Because of the way the PS4 takes screenshots, I'm finding it very difficult to get "action shots", but I'll keep trying.

Also, for my fellow starship fans, here's a pic of my character's starship. Starships only really appear during transition cutscenes, when you more from world to world, but there are many one can acquire and collect, so it's sort of a character customization thing.

Lastly, for those who don't know the story setup for Destiny, but are curious, it works like this:

Some time in the future, a benevolent alien entity known as The Traveler appeared to the people of Earth, and accelerated humanity into a new Golden Age. Tech went sky-high -- most of the non-gaseous planets in our solar system got terraformed into human-habitable worlds.

Then the gaming equivalent of "That Guy" showed up to troll everyone. :-)

Seems the Traveler had an evil enemy and counterpart who showed up to ruin everything for everyone, and it brought a lot of other evil hench-things with it.

The Golden Age was lost to years of war. Humanity almost bit the dust, but the Traveler expended the last of its power to safeguard one last city on Earth from the depredations of The Darkness and its minions, and the Traveler now lies dormant, and feared dead. (that's the big white sphere in the sky you can see in the one screenshot).

Players start the game as Guardians -- the last line of defense in the solar system, and things don't look too encouraging.

BONUS PIC: A shot of a Byzantine galley trapped in the ice from Rise of the Tomb Raider. The vista was breathtaking before the screenshot process sucked all the life out of it. Bleah :-(

Cheers!

Destiny brought Bungie's awesome lore-building into a huge focus and I sincerely am quite sad that I was basically forced out of the game because I played on 360 without financial ability to upgrade my console.

Well, the rumors persist that the very-soon-to-release Destiny 2 (i.e. the continuation of the gameworld and its story) will also release on PC.

No official confirmation yet, but I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen, with its own servers and all, because I can see no technical reason why it couldn't.

It would be like turning away piles of free money. Absurd. :-)

Reader
Little Bugbear

All these pictures are beautifully.

Thank you!

Reader
rafael12104

Interesting. Hmm. Might just have to take a good look at that game most especially if I can play it on my PC.

Reader
Crow

Unfortunately, despite the rumors for years now Destiny is not on PC. There's talk that the second title will be on PC, and Bungie even placed a no-strings-pulled job listing(s) for techs to port.

Reader
mysecretid

Agreed, as above. I'm hearing that Destiny 2 on consoles is slated to drop very soon -- late April-ish, perhaps? After the Mass Effect hype dies down?

I'm not hearing anything official about the PC version though, although it is supposed to be coming.

I've spent a lot of time working lately but the 'Dwarf with delusions of royalty' found himself in some throne room in Angmar last week so here's another shot of my character taking a well deserved break.
Unfortunately those Angarim dudes do not fashion their thrones with wider Dwarf posteriors in mind.

The second pic, while technically not a screenshot, is an older one where my Paladin seems to be contemplating cracking open a keg while his player himself is having a beer of the same brand (The logo Blizzard used in game is of the Belgian abbey ale Grimbergen and being Belgian myself I found this quite amusing). Cheers!

One Shots is my favorite part of MOP, but the reason I don't participate as much as I used to is because the new comment system's method of handling image attachments is, to be honest, not so hot. Both the way images get squished into a little box and especially the images being displayed in a random order (makes descriptions or even a narrative a total pain in the butt). Hopefully there's more tweaking that can be done to improve things.

Still, the shots must go on, so here's a pair of hero/villain shots to celebrate my return to SWTOR this week. Or maybe it will be iconic villain/hero shots? Who knows? ; )

Yes. I agree. The new squish to view aspect leaves alot to be desired. In addition, many times if I want to post several pics the page times out before the post completes.

But, it could be much worse.

one thing ghost recon wildlands doesn't do is wash it's hands of the horrors of the violence it portrays. which i appreciate because all to often our violent video games and movies seem to be on par with looney tunes in that regard.

i went for a bit of a brit chap look the other day randomly.

you're supposed to parachute down below this bridge for a supply crate but like with all such missions jose just did his pro flying skills onto the precarious precipice instead.

came across this runescape meme and decided to steal it. now you can too.

Ghost Recon downloaded an ready to benchmark my new PC. I'm going to leave my GTX 1080 looping that bench overnight.

As for the CIA, ah well. Given recent news, I'm more worried about the FBI. I'm pretty sure I was wiretapped and I'm not even Russian or a presidential candidate!
