WRUP: A tribute to Schlag edition

If you never read the comments… well, you probably don’t read What Are You Playing either, since half of the dang column is the comments. But you’re also missing out on our regular commenter Schlag, whom we all enjoy immensely. And this week, I get to write a tribute to him because the dude is down there with hand-crafted memetic humor on a remarkably large number of posts. Like, all the time.

We might not like that if not for the fact that he takes the time to hand-make most of them himself, and they are always not just relevant to the conversation but actively amusing. He does this because he enjoys doing it, and it’s absolutely awesome. He’s never disruptive, always upbeat, but always bringing a bit of humor in image format. And that means a lot to us. We recognize that it’s hard to deliver a nice piece of humor in image format, especially while staying on-topic and custom crafting things on a pretty much daily basis.

So here’s to Schlag Sweetleaf, because we like him. And Bree said I could pay him tribute this week, so I did.

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Well, Pokémon Go may actually see a bit less play time this weekend (my local Mystics are probably already noticing my absence this week). There’s a Hearthstone Fireside Gathering at a local convention I want to hit, and I’m hoping to get my hands on a Nintendo Switch and the not-exactly-new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): A little birdie told me I really need to get my butt in gear and finish Guild Wars 2’s living story arc because of reasons. So I’ll probably do that! I’ve also got my Ultima Online account on, so I may check out the new update – still trying to decide whether to sink money into a new character slot or revamp a character into a tamer on my main account, decisions! – and I’ve dipped back into classic Guild Wars as well!

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog):Well, we’ve got a benchmark for Final Fantasy XIV’s next expansion, so I’m even more hype than I was before. Time to get my last prep work done and see if I can’t do a little bit more besides. It’s also high time that I start getting some stuff in order over in Final Fantasy XI, since there’s a 15-year anniversary celebration coming up.

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): No grand plans other than perhaps digging up one of my old Star Wars: The Old Republic characters for a familiar spin.

To be honest, I generally hate memes. Part of this is because, being in Japan, I missed out a lot on these, and when I came back to the states, my more pop culture savvy relatives and friends were basically speaking a foreign language to me. It was frustrating as heck.

However, what Schlag makes often reminds me of the side comics I’ll read in mass media political journals. He’s on point and funny at once, summing up several underlying points of the piece in a well constructed image. Oh, and he probably helped ensure I didn’t fall too far behind in memes when his particular image played on a broader pop culture meme.

As for the games, life is throwing everything it has at me, so not much gaming this week (or even next). I’m still waiting for a magical flying MMO Cupid to hit me with an arrow so i can find a new game to love, but no luck yet.

I’m (fashionably?) late to the party, but I’d also like to extend my well-wishes to Schlag. Definitely one of the posters who keeps me coming back here. :)

I played Mass Effect: Andromeda and was vaguely disappointed, in the same way Dragon Age: Inquisition left me unsatisfied. They both felt like pseudo-MMOs with weak stories. That’s only my personal opinion, though. I suspect my fondness for Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 has coloured my outlook. :)

I had actually never seen a Star Wars movie and went to see The Force Awakens. It made me wonder why people even like Star Wars. I certainly don’t get the high scores it got from reviewers.

I’m glad I gave it another chance with Rogue One though. That was a LOT better, imho.

Reader
Armsman

Personally I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I first saw the film in 1977 (I was 14 -yeah, I’m old). I CAN’T STAND Mr. EMO Darth Vader the Younger (aka Kylo Ren). Hell, I love ‘Rogue One’ more because we got to see the actual Darth Vader doing what he does best at the end. ;) — but I digress ;)

Reader
Sorenthaz

Kylo’s basically like: “I WANNA BE DARTH VADER, I WANNA I WANNA I WANNAAAAAA”

Jacen died for this horrid emo poser.

Reader
Kickstarter Donor
mysecretid

Unofficial word is that the Kylo Ren character, on one level, was intended as a direct shot at overly self-entitled Star Wars fans who believe themselves the true keepers of Star Wars. The humorless “George Lucas raped my childhood and should die!” extremists.

Like Kylo, they are the “offspring” of the original Star Wars, and believe that they alone are its true inheritors and arbiters. But also like Kylo, their self-image doesn’t match reality, and their “power” manifests as childish ranting tantrums, often as not.

As such, Kylo is intentionally portrayed as juvenile, faintly ridiculous, and so self-absorbed that he can’t see how he actually appears to others.

The story as I heard it — believe it or not, as preferred. I’m not selling this, just mentioning it as possibly interesting.

Cheers,

Reader
Sorenthaz

Guess that could make sense, and would be funny if true.
Though at the same time it’s like there was ALL of this expanded story and lore… and yet it’s all being flushed down the drain so that Disney can write the story the way that they want to.

Reader
Sray

Personally, I’m glad that they did flush the entire EU down the toilet: a lot of it turned Star Wars from “science fantasy” into “Dungeons and Dragons in space”.

I remember reading Dark Empire 2 about twenty five years ago. At one point Palpatine points at one of his sycophants, basically waves a wand, turning them into a “dark jedi master” (as Sith hadn’t really yet been explained in Star Wars cannon), and says “bippity-boppity-boo… a dark jedi now are you.” (okay, definitely some poetic license going on there) At that point, I groaned “yeah… right…” and decided that I would forever treat all Star Wars comics and novels like fan fiction. I know that I’m not alone in that by any means: a lot of fans of the original films hold the majority of the EU stories in far lower regard than the prequel trilogy.

Reader
Sray

I would love it if that was true.

As someone who grew up on Star Wars during the late ’70s and ’80s, I still never understood this hatred of the prequel trilogy. I get people who don’t like Jar Jar -I don’t like Jar Jar- or some of the eye-rollingly bad dialogue; but the whole “these are the worst films ever made” thing is pure crap. The kids who are being raised today seeing the films in order of prequels to originals to new trilogy love them all, which means that these children’s films (which Star Wars’ intended audience) are doing what they’re supposed to do.

Plus, while The Force Awakens might possibly an objectively better made film than any of the prequels, it exists solely for the purposes of making Disney more money; whereas Lucas made the prequels because he wanted to: he had zero need for the money because ILM had already made him a billionaire by the late 1990s. That reason alone makes even Attack of the Clones a more worthwhile film than the new stuff.

Reader
Kickstarter Donor
mysecretid

I recently saw The Force Awakens described as a “re-establishing” movie for Joe and Jane Popcorn-Eater — i.e the general movie-going public who aren’t Star Wars fans.

The writer claimed that TFA was designed by Disney to remind these folks of all the Star Wars basics; to remind them of where the story currently rests (X years after Return of the Jedi); to introduce familiar characters, and to link these to new characters.

The author goes on to claim that now that Disney has brought the non-fan movie-going public “up to speed” with TFA, the next Star Wars film (The Last Jedi) will be the one where the story will start breaking new ground.

I don’t know if I believe the author’s theory, but as my friend Randy Kissack used to like to say, “Interesting, if true”. :-)

Cheers,

Reader
Mark Jacobs

Don’t get me started…

I might have a policy on not commenting on other game devs, but comments on tv/film/etc., I’m under no self-imposed ban.

I used to think nothing could top Jar-Jar Binks as the focus (well, that and “I have the high ground”) of all my pent up nerd-rage at the underwhelming prequel series to one of the best sci-fi series of all time.

Used to…

I would like to turn this tribute back on all the people who bring their words and ideas here on a daily basis. That is the lifeblood of this place imo, and it flows so very greatly here. The staff of writers is top notch , in that I have read some real poetry here , and that goes for the community as well. There are members of this site that write and argue their points beautifully and it is a real pleasure to be a reader here,if even from the sidelines.Memes and their like are fast and fun and can be impactful but they do little to encourage conversation, and conversation is what the name of the game is and should be.So I raise my glass right back at you;)

Mostly finishing up my (first, hopefully – though I’m not going again soon) completion playthrough of Mass Effect: Andromeda. I had fun, but was disappointed. Quality game in many respects, yet a real downgrade in what I normally expect from Bioware. Weird. Will continue co-op and wait for patches/DLC. Taking a breather from ESO for a bit, i’m currently enjoying some “Stellaris”, “Transport Fever” and “Assetto Corsa”, with games like “Prey” and “Outlast 2” on my short list.
Thursdays being father/daughter adventure games day, we just finished season 1 of “The Walking Dead”, season 2 up next and “Layers of Fear” installed and and waiting.
Not much MMO in any of that, i know….struggling with finding one that could lure me in, ESO currently being the only exception.

And as for Mr. Sweetleaf, there’s not an article where i don’t scroll all the way through to make sure i don’t miss any of your posts (thisone sadly still missing one…hint, hint)

Dragon Quest Heroes 2.
Hey, this one’s actually good!
It keeps the fun combat but completely changes the gameplay, from a mission based tower defense with Dynasty Warriors combat in the first game, it goes to a much more varied action RPG; with an interconnected world to explore between story quests.
There are still a few tower defense missions, but it’s much more bearable when there’s plenty of other mission types, exploration, infiltration, even some light puzzle elements. Plus the “open” world has rare monsters and strong bosses to hunt, secret zones to unlock with specific characters on your team… it’s neat and not overwhelmingly RPGish.

They also added classes for the main characters, each with multiple weapons and dedicated skillset on all of those; as well as weapon proficiency to unlock new active and passive abilities.
It helps a lot with the inherent repetitive nature of the game.

Good surprise, that game. Although you kinda have to know Dragon Quest to really enjoy all the fanservice.
Otherwise, it’s just a slightly better Dynasty Warriors with light RPG elements.

i saw there’s a new gundam fighting game coming out for ps4 and it made me pine for gundam dynasty warriors again. as the conntrols/fighting looks kind like a cross of that and windomXP.

i didn’t get as many hours into gundam dw2 as the progression is bullshit post story mode sadly. where as thefirst one i put in like 300 hours or something retarded grinding out top gear for my fave mobile suits :P

Line

Really hope to see more Koei Tecmo games follow DQH2 in a slightly more open nature, with the same though put into adding variety to their products.

They always have cool concepts, but it’s just so repetitive… Berserk could have been so much better. Could not stand that for even an hour.
A DW Gundam game with some space exploration though… that’d be something.

deekay_plus
Reader
deekay_plus

i didn’t mind the reptition in the gundam dw games so much. in the second one it was just hte bullshit unlock progression especially with non ace suits so to say that were basically impossible to do with the limited skill sets of those suits (basically unlike gdw1 gdw2 had all the mass produced mobile suits with cut back skill sets to play but you had to do stupid challenges with them to unlock stuff which with teh cut back skill sets most of the boss parts were pretty much impossible).

i actually wish i had ignored the bad word of mouth and tried the dw mmo even if it’s not gundam. tho i hear it’s like super bad even if you like dw game cliches.

It’s Schlag’s world, and we just live in it :-D

I’m constantly impressed with how Schlag manages to create something which is actually difficult (hand-crafting meme humor which is relevant and funny, but never mean-spirited or a cheap shot) and somehow, he makes it all look simple.

They say that’s the mark of true skill — making the difficult appear effortless — and in Schlag’s case, I’m inclined to agree.

Here’s to you, brother Schlag. So glad you came out to play! :-D Always happy to see you here!

In non-Schlag news (i.e. the boring bits) the aftermath of the move across town continues to be tiring (and sometimes, tiresome) but we’re getting there.

I managed to injure myself, Bal’s Big Brother style, in a rather ridiculous fashion.

I managed to turn my left ankle, and to officially strain (like a sprain, but the muscle doesn’t get moved out of place) both my ankles as well! Durr.

So, walking around is not fun — I basically hobble slowly right now — but it will improve. You’d think this would create gaming opportunities, but I get tired from the injuries, and end up sleeping a lot.

I did go back to Star Wars: The Old Republic for the new story content (I was injured and bored, forgive me).

To give the proverbial devil its due, I did appreciate that the new daily missions are an attempt to give players more things to do when they log in at endgame — but after finishing my first playthrough of the extremely fun Mass Effect: Andromeda (whose creative lead was the classic Bioware guy, Mac Walters) I can’t shake the feeling that the SWTOR guys are good at imitating the signature elements of a classic Bioware-style game, but they really don’t understand how or why those character and story elements work, or why they’re so popular with Bioware fans.

Maybe the EA suits are actually holding the SWTOR devs back? Not giving them enough of a budget, or enough creative permission, to really show what they can do?

I don’t pretend to know, but it wouldn’t be the first time the EA suits wouldn’t stop standing on the necks of their creative teams, and then blaming said teams when things went wrong.

Star Trek Online also dropped new story content, and I honestly liked it better, irrespective of my franchise love.

Be advised though — it is a truth of the universe that whenever Star Trek Online drops new content, a whole raft of bugs and glitches usually appears.

Give it a week or two for everything to patch out if you want to play, but have no tolerance for wonky bits.

Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider on my PS4 — I thought it was okay, but I confess, I was bored by the end. Something about the pacing felt off to me. I’d say be sure to get it cheap, if you want to play.

Playing a bunch of Stellaris on my PC, and really liking the new ethics and society systems which come along with the latest Utopia expansion. More ways to play the way you personally enjoy playing.

Be well, everyone, and have a fun week of gaming!

So Subnautica as my main game this weekend (and past few days) and some Elder Scrolls Online as well. Also thinking about finally installing Elite: Dangerous…

Also, waiting for new picture from Schalg :)

I’m here to raise a glass to Schlag. I’ve been playing roll20, as usual, and still haven’t wandered back to MMOs. I’m still a MOP patron, though, so here’s to both of you! 🍷

Wouldn’t worry too much — MMORPGs, specifically, seem to be in a bit of a lull right now. I’m feeling it too. Too much imitation and not enough innovation across the various games in the genre. I find it hard to build a lot of enthusiasm.

But, you watch, some plucky band of indie rebels will eventually release something MMORPG-like that hits most gamers’ sweet spot, and suddenly, MMORPGs as a genre will be considered “back”.

Genre popularity in gaming seems to ebb and flow like the tide — I figure if we wait around long enough, the tide will turn again.

Have fun with your digital tabletop campaign!

our DM lost interest in the campaign we started last winter. and now wants to do a whole new episodic campaign. which has killed motivation from teh group to play. which i’m kind of on their side as i wanted to explore my character more and even set up some possible char development scenes with him to do in the future which would be fun RP.

which basically something about how she’s such a vapid dissaffected gen x type from teh 90s because she had a kobold pet she killed with neglect as a kid before running off to join the criminal underworld as a bard. and the scene would be something like kobolds attacking the group but she doesn’t do any thing but cry about it and cradle the dead kobolds teh party members have killed and bawl her eyes out and such.

great rp opportunity especially with teh group make up being what it was.

but nope, now he wants to do episodic thing of new dnd content that just came out and have us start at the end with high level characters so we can see what high level chars are like and then go back and do different timelines with a choice to make new toons every episode. which sounds nice and all but most of us are still feeling our previous toons and lack of furthering the plot we started.

Schlag is the memer we deserve.

And also the one we need.

This weekend will probably be a mix of FFXIV, LoL, Smite, HotS, and some other misc stuff. Just hit level 60 for the first time in XIV a few days ago, so I’ve been sort of working on figuring out what to do (and leveling up other classes a bit so that I can clear out newbie gear from my armoury chest).
LoL will probably be playing more ranked and watching MSI.
Smite I’ve gotta do a buttload of Celestial stuff for before the event ends this coming week.
HotS I’m just seeing what’s new and maybe trying to do the nexus challenge stuff (if anyone on MOP wants to run some Co-op vs AI or such together lemme know, btag is Sorenthaz#1128).
So yeah busy-ish weekend for gaming purposes.

Yeh I’ve got you added from the last time there was one of those things going on, lol. I’d be down to play some more whenever as long as I’m not busy doing other stuff. Just finished the Genji challenge stuff but might as well put my 30 day Stimpack to use that I got for free, lol.

idk what the plan is for it beyond doing at leas tthe 5 games a week challenge.

umm probably easiest thing is if you see us playing to hop in mumble nad say sup. if you don’t have mumble info i’ll get it to you somehow, just let me know (you can also idle in our discord if you use that and we usually do shout outs to everyone that plays when we’re getting ready to play).

I don’t know anything about a mumble or discord server. I mostly chill on Discord compared to other voice stuff since I’m a part of a few Twitch communities, lol.

i’lll get you a link to our discord so we can shout at you when we play.

i’ve been puttering about in minecraft, and hots 2.0 sees us back in that game earning teh weekly challanges and gold. the 20 free hero pack was nice too and i’ve been playing with nova who is quite a bit punchier than raynor.

minecraft wise i am still debating what to do with my house next. i have been farming wool for the walls but wool doesn’t look quite right for this so i may need to go mine some quarried stone for it instead.

There being no MMO out that I really want to play leaves me sort of restless when it comes to game play. So, I’ve just been rotating between Atlas Reactor, Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade, and Battlefield 1.

It seems lately that everything that catches my eye is currently nowhere near feature complete. I’ll be over here in the corner waiting for something at least mostly finished and with some real depth in its systems and game play.

A close friend has finally lured me into Elite Dangerous so I’ll be doing… er… whatever it is you do in Elite Dangerous. I held out for a long time, but now that I have a PC that can run current games at decent settings I’ve no excuse not to.
Though I still seem to be using it mostly to play the original Doom. I’ll probably be doing that too.

Depending how comfortable you are with the game you might like to look into quite a large event that is happening today (UTC 16:00) https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/347455-The-Premonition-End-Game-Event-29th-April-3303

I finished a knowledge title in BDO(Gentle like moonlight) which meant alot of exploring and npc dialogues which led me to the “discovery” of the beautiful island of Ilya. I can’t shake off the notion that it was meant as some sort of secondary(?) starting place and it would have been a wonderful one at that(well except for the fact that you only reach it with a boat). It also unlocked a map tutorial I didn’t get before. Odd. Sadly it’s tucked away in a region not many players will have any reason to go to. I also forgot to take screenshots as I usually do. The place would have been worthy of a couple of shots. None of my ~15 horses gonna get me in a boat again, though, in the next few weeks.

probably do some more paleontology in ARK. I mostly like to creep around and observe the critters interacting with each other. The results can be very surprising. I’d recounted recently a 5-minute (literally) battle between a phobosuchus (prehistoric crocodile) versus a hundred-foot-long diplodocus. The croc took a bite out of the diplo’s massive, elephant-like leg, and then the huge herbivore spent the rest of the time pushing, shoving, stomping, and head-butting the outmatched croc all over the lagoon. Darn interesting stuff.

I took an ANSEL super-res pic of it, this is a 93MB, 15K x 8K photo of their battle. Zoom in – you’ll be astonished at the detail, including blood spatters on the diplodocus’ leg. A picture file this large sometimes needs to “rez in” so give it a moment to load to see it sparkling clear.

This should be a public share for everyone:

Some old sylvari guildies of mine enticed me over to Final Fantasy XIV a couple weeks back, and its been a fun trip. I’ve been leveling up a monk on her way to the true end game: Glamour. The game is incredibly well-crafted and combat is engaging if not too hectic. If only the storyline didn’t want me to break out the Crow and Tom Servo puppets, but that’s an article for another day. I’ll be sticking around, though, there’s something to having in-game goals to actively work for beyond legendaries.

Awesome, Schlag absolutely deserves it. Every site could use a Schlag Sweetleaf to keep things fresh.

For this weekend, enjoying the last of my FFXIV login campaign, and debating whether to come back for Stormblood. It’s one of those games I always enjoy when there’s fresh content, but always get burned out on when I’m just in token grinding mode between releases. Aside from that, working the perpetual gear treadmill in BDO. Having finally hit Master 2 crafting, going to see if I can’t make myself a 100M/week trade route building crates during the week and transporting them on the weekends

Otherwise, family stuff. Soccer games, birthday parties, and the accoutrements that go with child rearing

Goofing around a little bit in Mass Effect Andromeda. Bought Persona 5 and Destiny for my PS4 this week, so I’ve been tinkering in those games.

Persona 5 feels like it’s going to be a binge game: I’ll play for solid chunk of a day, until my ability to tolerate Japanese weirdness is depleted, and then leave it for a week before doing the same thing again.

Destiny was an impulse purchase that I regret a bit: it’s actually pretty good, but trying to play a FPS with a controller is frikkin’ impossible; and I’ll probably only play it until my PSPlus trial runs out, then I’ll grab Destiny 2 on the PC this fall. PC Master Race FTW!

I also have a 30 day code for SWTOR kicking around, so I might just activate that and see just how many band aids they’re using right now, and lavishly spend the crazy amounts of CC that I have saved up. Honestly, I feel a bit bad for the new head producer: a bit of reading between the lines in some of his forum statements gives me the impression that a huge portion of their 2017/2018 plans have been thrown out (probably in order to find a way to reverse the colossal stupidity of Galactic Command’s implementation); and now he has to clean up Ben Irving’s mess; get out new content to the starving players that remain from the mostly scuttled previous plans; and figure out a way of drawing players back to the game yesterday; none of which are simple tasks, and all of it is to clean up the mess that anyone with half a brain should never had made to begin with.

Interesting. I have the manual dexterity of a drunken rhino (rhinos gotz no fingers, geddit? :-) ) but I don’t embarrass myself too horribly in Destiny. Hmmm.

Could it be just a case of fooling around until your hands get used to using a controller for the shooting? Or is it more an annoyance thing than a dexterity thing? That you’re used to the more precise control of a PC mouse and keyboard setup?

Anyway, I hope the game brings you some fun, eventually. If not, you can blame it all on me. That’s what the internet is for, right? :-D

Cheers,

It’s a combo of poor hand to eye coordination plus lack of precision that really sets off my low frustration threshold: I’m really bad at the whole reflexes things, so the lack of precision from the controller sends my frustration levels up, and makes it a lot of not fun when things get serious. Either slow it down significantly (obviously not going to happen) or give me more precise controls (KB+M) and we get back into my happy zone. So Destiny 2 should be a lot more fun for me.

I think Destiny’s simple control scheme will really shine on the PC, and be able to bring in a lot of people who might not otherwise play MMOs (ooo… wait we’re not supposed to admit that Destiny is an MMO because that’s a dirty word).

Been thinking about the troubles you’re having with Destiny, and what might help you find more fun.

As Drainage says, messing with the controller sensitivity settings for the game may help. Also, you may want to make sure Aim Assist is turned on.

I know, I know, the PC Master Race thinks Aim Assist is the devil’s poo, but it’s intended to, at least partially, compensate for the fact that console shooters just aren’t as precise as PC shooter setups.

Speaking of precision, it occurs to me that what class of character you’re playing may be having an impact on how the game plays for you, given that we both evidently have co-ordination deficit issues :-D.

I play a Hunter (the Shadow variant actually, which unlocks around level 15-ish?) and my go-to weapons focus on what the game calls precision. I use a Scout Rifle and a Sniper Rifle, both of which reward engaging at distance, and less shots fired doing more damage each.

I’m not anywhere near “One Shot, One Kill”. Far, far from it. But I’m pretty good at “One Shot, One Hit” with these weapons. :-)

All three classes can use any weapon, as far as I’ve seen, so you may want to try out different weapons, even if playing the Hunter class isn’t your idea of fun.

Not all weapon types are created equal in Destiny. Autorifles annoy me to no end, for example. They throw lots of bullets, but they’re so imprecise, I’d probably be better off just hurling the gun itself at the monsters.

Anyway, maybe you don’t care about any of this, and are content to wait for Destiny 2 on PC, and that’s cool — but if I can answer any questions for you, or be of help in any way to make Destiny more fun for you, don’t be afraid to ask.

Cheers,

Reader

I am a very very crappy gamer, and have no issues with any sort of aim assist, or any aids of the type, or playing games on easiest difficulty settings. I’ve always just found the controller to be far too clumsy when I have to do any sort of aiming, dating back to Halo 1, which was the first FPS I ever touched: couldn’t use human weapons worth a damn; had fewer issues with plasma guns but couldn’t line up shots well enough to get more than a couple levels into the game even on the easiest settings. In fact I seldom ever touch any type of shooter -even on the PC- because of those issues I had with my first exposure to that type of game.

Lowering sensitivity would actually hurt me a lot with this game because in combat turning is already waaaaaay too slow for me at the default setting: I need to be able to whip around the camera quickly to find the bad guy, but then be able to slow down and line up a shot and then realign my aim after the recoil, which I just can’t do effectively enough with the controller for my taste.

It’s a good enough game that I’ll goof around with it a little bit until Destiny 2 comes out, as I found out that I don’t have to have a PSPlus sub in order to play. I did find enough enjoyment in the game to feel like Destiny 2, with my preferred control method, will be something that I should enjoy quite a bit.
