Shroud of the Avatar works on endgame storyline

Will Shroud of the Avatar finish fleshing out its main storyline in time for this summer’s official release? It might be a photo finish, as the team is currently working on the endgame storyline that all players will encounter.

“Now that all three paths (Truth, Love, and Courage) are playable we have begun work on the Finale part of the plot, aka The Path of the Oracle,” the team said in this past weekend’s newsletter. “One of the crucial scenes of that path is the Oracle Colossus. This is of course the famous depiction of the Oracle from the concept painting by Stephen Daniele inspired by passages from The Sword of Midras prequel novel by Tracy Hickman.”

It behooves us to remind you that Shroud of the Avatar is currently testing its free trial program through the end of May, which means that anyone can check out the game and see if it is to their liking until May 31st.

They aren’t planning a full release this year anymore.

The Steam store was recently updated with the following

“We estimate reaching a Beta version with all features and content sometime in late 2017. “

Although doesn’t MassivelyOP generally give side eyes to games that have persistance and an active cash shop while claiming they aren’t launched?

SOTA has been in what most games call soft launch for months and months

I’m in no rush to end game – there’s plenty to do before then.

I love this game. One of the best gaming communities I’ve experienced in many years of MMOs. My only complaint is that I wish the game world was not so compartmentalized.

For clarification, I don’t think official release is planned for this summer. My understating is they intend for the game to be “story complete” at that time, but it won’t be considered officially released until later in the year.

The game is still a fair way off ready for release – I’d be surprised if it gets there before 2018
