Massively OP Podcast Episode 118: Crowfall breaks up the band

Just when you think the MMO industry is predictable, it jukes and jags all over the place, tossing out surprises left and right in an attempt to shake you off its tail (or to pull you in, we haven’t decided on that one yet). Marking one of the most unpredictable news weeks of 2017, Bree and Justin ride out westerns, space operas, and fantasies with aplomb.

It’s the Massively OP Podcast, an action-packed hour of news, tales, opinions, and gamer emails! And remember, if you’d like to send in your own letter to the show, use the “Tips” button in the top-right corner of the site to do so.

Finally got to listen to this today and enjoyed it as always. I found the mailbag question interesting and it seemed to tie in well with Tina’s Guild Chat article from this week. I don’t know what I would add to either discussion, other than as a single person approaching 50 myself I totally feel Sam and the desire to maybe find a partner who’s also into the same things as I am. Personally though, I am generally far too wary of people I don’t know in games to even strike up a casual conversation let alone a flirtation.

I also can’t help commenting on one of Justin’s comments regarding whether games should have systems to facilitate OOC/RL hookups in which he refers to games “lubricating the connection process.” ;) Yes, despite my actual age, I am also 12 apparently ;)

See when Justin said that it was all I could not not to act like a tween and comment on it. I was trying (but mostly failing!) to stay mature for our reader. :D

I thought I detected a faint sputtering in the background. I think I expected you to lose it when he said that and was a bit surprised (and impressed) when you didn’t.

Justin, your new MMO consumption strategy really hit home for me.
I recently started doing something similar, except I go with one game for 2-3 days at a time, then switch to another.(Only playing 2, right now)
It was stressful trying to play multiple games each day. It made me feel emotionally spread thin and you can’t really truly enjoy any one game, when you’re trying to micro-manage multiple MMO’s at the same time.

I guess i’m old fashion because i would rather meet people face to face. Things are different today though. I don’t get playing a video game looking for a mate.

I find listening to folks in guild chat can be the most effective way to gauge others temperament and intellect levels. The main downside this requires a multi gaming guild that has literally several hundred members all who play different game. This way over time you get to know people you like and learn about what kind of games they like.

Some people join a new guild with every game and will swap guilds in a heartbeat based on the toxic members they encounter. Personally I change channels and not guilds / games.

Allods is the other game you were thinking of with a marriage system, only they call it a Best Friend system.

Romance online? i have an experience with that in 1998, in a BBS, my old fool self was too careless, he did not think the BBS will close one day and he will lose the only way to connect with others, lost the connection, no emails no phone numbers, almost 20 years later and i still regret not asking for an email, people used to get a Hotmail address back then … remember that?

I have nothing good to say for Sam, just her question reminded me of old days.

“I pulled into Nazareth, was feeling ’bout half past dead
I just need some place where I can lay my head
Hey, mister, can you tell me, where a man might find a bed?
He just grinned and shook my hand, “No” was all he said.

Take a load off Fanny, take a load for free
Take a load off Fanny, and you put the load right…”

“That’s ‘breaks up the band’, not ‘breaks out The Band,’ Uta!”

Oh… :(

lol! Ok, that amused me. Seriously though, Dk’s right you and Bree have good speaking voices for doing the podcast. Part of why I listen is that I enjoy listening to both of your voices and banter.

Not sure if I’d use “sexy” as the descriptor but you both have enjoyable to listen to voices. :) Listening to the Podcast has become a part of my Monday evening ritual while reading online or playing a game.
