Camelot Unchained’s backer-modders are tricking out its test interface

“No one said making an MMO was simple,” City State Entertainment’s Tyler Rockwell quips in this weekend’s Camelot Unchained newsletter. He writes that the team continues its work on siege firing and ammo, particle performance, seamless zone transitioning, metrics, animations, polearms, and siege engine VFX, plus a temporary crafting UI built not by the team but by a modder.

“One of our Mod Squad Backers, Mehuge, has been working on a temporary Beta 1 UI for crafting,” Rockwell says. “This will replace our current slash commands. The first pass was great, illustrating how lucky we are to have Backers working with us on the game.”

CSE is anticipating a small test this weekend as well. Check out the new art and Mark Jacob’s weekly recap video below too!

Keep up the great work. I hope there is more of a polished feel to the UI then relying on the great community driven mods on release, I like mods, and I would never NOT want them in, but DAoC never felt like the GUI was taken serious. Almost would be like buying a Bentley and when you get in to drive it the Dashboard is a hack and slashed together Datsun from 1977 haha. Give us that Bentley Info-center! Anyway, love the updates and thanks Mark and team for the hard work. Very excited for Beta 1 just wanted to throw some feedback since I know you guys read these forums a lot.

Whats the point really? Put in a standard, plain , run of the mill UI. Its all thats needed. If the game allows mods, which it looks like it does, then the community will come out with them. Its a waste of development time when a majority of the community will use the mods over the default UI anyways.

I’d rather have a well developed “by the mmo developer” UI than one that was crappy like The Secret Worlds. Also I’d rather not be dependent upon modders to keep a UI up to date.

Hence why it’s largely being developed by the community … Mod Squad Backers and not developers, as mentioned in the article.

Say wot m8? I was responding to the guy that stated he would rather see the developers still make a UI… Im not sure what the point of you trying to correct me was.

You don’t see Tamanous’s point? He was rather clear. :(

No one disputed that its not largely developed by the community…
