Worlds Adrift’s character creation options will be limited at launch

The team behind Worlds Adrift put out a new video showing the game’s character customization options as it stands right now. The takeaway? It’s pretty limited — and likely to be so through the game’s initial release.

“We have to start somewhere,” the team said. “We have to get the game out there so that people can give us feedback on how it should be played.”

Fortunately, many more visual options are planned for development, and players who want to tweak their characters should be able to do so using some sort of in-game interface in the future. Check it out after the break!

The team also posted an update regarding Worlds Adrift’s island creator:

The top picture reminds me somewhat of Asherons Call.

Even right now though most people I come across look different from each other. So while the options may be limited there are enough to mix and match. Most of the clothing drops have randomized colors as well, so that helps. Here’s what I look like currently in game…

Of all that’s out there or on it’s way, this game intrigues me the most. I was curious as how it runs and if you need a high performance machine to run it.

The biggest issue at the moment is server lag. There’s still a lot of optimization that needs to be done, and I think the overall graphics are turned down by default in the client right now anyway. There are also no graphical adjustments you can make currently except to set resolution and a fast/medium/high graphics setting. Which only alters details rendered at distance as far as I can tell.

If it wasn’t for the server issues I’d probably be running at least 60fps all the time.

Btw, I’ve got an i3-6100 @3.70 Ghz, a 1050 Ti, and 16gb of RAM.

Thanks for the info.I will be watching this one closely.Really like the art style and colors . My machine is woefully behind the times though , may have to consider an upgrade if this game pans out.

To put performance into some sort of perspective, my rig is pretty low end cost-wise but I just built it this last December so the components are all new.

I run Battlefield 1 on ultra on full 64 player maps at about 90fps. Black Desert Online I was running about 60fps with all the stuffs turned on. So hopefully that sheds a little more light on just how far Worlds Adrift still needs to go with optimization.

you can run it on a mid performance computer that has either a high end intel card or a low to high end amd or nvidia card.

I managed to get it to run(not smoothly) on an intel HD 4000 it ran at around 20 fps with everything at its lowest

Uh oh :/ One thing you never want to hear about character customization is that it is limited. That’s not to say it’s the be all end all, but it’s pretty dam important.
