Guild Wars 2’s WvW update and the first chunk of the ‘Competitive Feature Pack’ are live

As announced at the tail end of May, ArenaNet is spending June upgrading Guild Wars 2’s PvP scene, beginning with today’s update, which patches up the sadly neglected world-vs.-world content and is live now.

ArenaNet has previously explained that its goal with the so-named “June 2017 Competitive Feature Pack” is to encourage players to actually skirmish in WvW, egged on with copious skirmish rewards. “The Match Overview tab under the WvW UI has been reworked to include a new Skirmish reward track, similar to the PvP Leagues track,” the studio wrote last week. “This track is progressed by earning pips, just like in structured PvP, and will grant rewards when tiers and divisions are crossed. However, this track will reset weekly.” Pips accrued depend on your rank, your world position, your group status, your underdog status, and how long you’ve been attached to your current world.

Expect plenty of WvW-related goodies and tickets to buy uber gear through the reward track. As for the rest of the month, PvP League returns a week from today, followed by automated tournaments the week after that.

It’s nice those guys get a bone every once in awhile, not that I know any one that PVPs of WVW for fun but I’m sure there might be some people that do.

Oh yeah, I need to give WvW a spin with these changes. Haven’t bothered with it in years, so may as well give it another whirl to see if the changes make it more enjoyable for me.

I have been forced into GW2 pvp and wvw specifically since I’d like to have one of the legendary weapons and it has gone like this,

Join Eternal Battlegrounds.
Look for the crossed swords and the marker that corresponds to my color.
Head there and join the blob of my color.
Wander from place to place.
Taking over keeps defended by npcs.
Get rewards.
Run into a large blob of a different color.
Much chaos ensues in which i usually die pretty fast.
Rinse and repeat for a while.

I did log in to a teamspeak once since the leader of the blob requested it as we would work better as a group. It was a lot of him saying ‘Push forward’ ‘Dodge’ ‘Dodge’ ‘Throw buffs’ and then after we all died, ‘Yeah we aren’t going to make it.’ a lot of times.

One. I truly try.
Two. I don’t want to be there.
Three. You don’t want me there either since I suq and am not committed to ‘getting gud.’
Four. Why must I participate in pvp to have a shot at weapons with cool and flashy effects?

becuase a legendary should not only be aqcuired in one game mode. it should reflect your “skill” or time spend in all game modes imo. Its sad that it doesnt reqcuire us to play normal pvp too.

and when you have no fun in zerg gameplay in wvw. try roaming. I think its more fun than just run with a blob/commander…

Ah no.

Then that would head into solo PVP which involves me going spastic at the keyboards while my opponent whirls around me for a few seconds for MAXIMUM DAMAGE and then I die.

Neither is particularly enjoyable.

Bummer so you just get a bunch of people that don’t care about winning mindlessly tagging everything in site to get rewards not caring if you win or not. I never went there for a legendary however I have gone in to WvWVW to Bandung out a daily, usually in an area of a map with no one around so that I can get myndailyndone quick and leave.

Yah I’ve been told just to find a farm group that roams from keep to keep taking them over and never engaging enemy blob. Sounds like the old Alterac Valley where folks from Horde would head up one side and Alliance would head around the other.

The new generation of legendary weapons actually require sPvP now too, for the 250 Shards of Glory!

What?! o.O

What’s the point of “it should reflect your “skill” or time spend in all game modes”, then? Or you could also ask, why did they left the Gift of Battle in the new recipes or why didn’t they add a tradeable currency for that too? Why the half-measure? /argh Anet

You’re a perfect example, why their e-sports marketing attempt was shut down! ;P

MMO’s eSport is the biggest meme of this decade.

That’s not bad you can just join up with a win trade scam for that.
