E3 2017: Ubisoft officially reveals The Crew 2

Ubisoft is undoubtedly pleased with the sales and performance of The Crew because as previously teased, the developer has invested in a full-fledged sequel that’s even bigger than the first cross-country racing game.

The Crew 2 will take multiplayer to a redesigned and larger America, with players jumping into the driver’s seat of all manner of cars, motorbikes, boats, helicopters, and even planes. The real star of the game is the open world setting, where players will be able to visit and traverse locations coast-to-coast, such as the Grand Canyon and New York City.

“Our ambition with The Crew 2 is to make the ultimate experience for all motorsports fans,” said the studio.

But what is there to do until the game comes out? Ubisoft launched a rewards program that allows players to earn and unlock up to 18 The Crew 2 vehicles by playing The Crew right now. An early 2018 release is planned on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Players can following the development progress and sign up for the beta on the website.

If there was one game that never needed a second made….

Awesome. As I shift my MMO play toward XPlane and other sims I realize how awful games like The Crew are in total.

I hope they’ll put Indianapolis in this one. It seemed oddly absent in the first game, especially with the whole “Crossroads of America” and “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” tags it has going for it. I only made it about half way through the main story in the first one, but I enjoyed playing it.

They have a circle track in the midwest that I assumed was a nod to the real one. It was just in a random place.

I jump in The Crew every now and then and always have fun. I look forward to checking out The Crew 2.

I dug what I’ve played of the first one, just need to find time to play more.

But I agree. For the first time in years their conference was actually pretty damn impressive. Sadly, it lost its ultimate cringe factor (except for the hilarious Just Dance bit). Aisha Tyler was sorely missed, and so were their bonkers WWE style entrances for devs (well, Miyamoto kinda filled that role which was rad) and awkwardly forced “ARE YOU A MEME NOW?!” lines.

But I think that’s an alright tradeoff. Show off cool shit, or deliver entertainment via maximum cringe.

Hopefully they will make the online bit more compelling on this run. I felt like the online aspect was weak. As a single player game I thought the Crew was a lot of fun though.
