E3 2017: Dauntless founder’s alpha begins August 18

At E3 today, Phoenix Labs announced that Dauntless’ founder’s alpha will begin on August 18th, not coincidentally the same day the NDA drops and player streaming is a go. How do you get into the founder’s alpha? With a founder’s pack, of course. The cheapest one will run you $39.99, on up to the top tier at $99.99, which is the one you’ll need to get into that alpha. (Do note that to see the founder pack details, you have to create an account on the official site first.)

The studio is also putting together a “Partner Program” for content creators, so streamers should keep an eye out for that. The E3 trailer is down below.

Looks like a Monster Hunter sequel came out, coincidence?

I think not…

Despite the announcement of Monster Hunter World coming to PC (eeeeeeeee!!!!) I’m still rooting for Dauntless and I’m definitely going to give it a shot when it releases.
It took time for Harvest Moon to get competition in the farming RPG genre and I love a lot of those games, so I’m very interested in what kinds of Monster Hunter-likes we might see in the future.

I have never played a “monster hunter” game but Dauntless has me pretty intrigued.

I will admit I’m a bit skeptical about some aspects of Dauntless, but I’m going to have an open mind and not get all “Monster Hunter did better!” elitist about it. I want to give it a fair shot.

I’m also a huge fan of both MH and HM (lol). I really like Rune Factory and picked up the last two Story of Seasons. Maybe I’ll give Dauntless a shot …

I enjoy the Rune Factory spin-offs a lot, though I was never very good at them. When I was farming I felt like I was neglecting exploration, and when I was exploring/doing dungeons I felt like I was neglecting farming. I was never happy!

Yeah I get you. The best part of that game was how flexible it was and how interdependent the skills were. Running low on time? Just recruit some beasts to water, weed, and harvest your crops. Stamina problems? Just level up skills to increase your max RP, cook food to replenish your rp, and forge better tools with less cost per use and higher tier for larger area. It was an amazing game. Rf4 :)

Oh also riding a wild while a friend and another beast help you out

I signed up but their site’s shop was broken so I couldn’t buy a pack. I put it off for a day or two and Monster Hunter World was announced. I think I’ll just wait on MHW.

Top founder’s pack is currently marked down to $79.99 (and has been since they opened the shop, not sure how long that will last though).
