Secret World Legends posts roadmap for the next year

Funcom is making good on its promise to post a development roadmap for Secret World Legends, as it just put up the schedule of releases and events for the remainder of 2017.

Restoring content to bring SWL up to TSW’s level is the immediate priority, with additional Transylvania quests, the full Tokyo map, raids, and both the Halloween and winter events slated to unlock over the coming months. There will also be the new 40-player lair “mega-bosses” to fight come August.

Skipping to the end of the roadmap, SWL plans to progress past what The Secret World had to offer with a “Dark Agartha” and a new system that will allow players to recruit their own agents and send them out on missions by the end of this year or the start of the next. But what about the story?

“As a results of the events that ended at the top of the Orochi Tower, continue the main story mission and follow up on a lead which will send you on your way to a brand new continent,” the studio teased.

How about letting me log in with my f*cking newly generated password which I had to generate 6 times and still nothing? Funcom nothing changes.

I don’t know if this will help you, but the client password and username for secret world legends is your original username and password for TSW. No amount of changing your password in the old funcom account will change that, because they copied our accounts from there to a new place….. (SO DUMB!)

I was lucky enough to find my old username and password written somewhere, so I was finally able to log into the new account system and THEN change my password. I hope customer service can help you at some point.

I’m not sure why this was deleted. You’re resetting your account password. You need to reset your login for the client.

Crow

HEY! @bree WTF?

Reader
Pedge Jameson

Haha they probably deleted them to put us both in our corners. Anyways, I go to funcoms website, I click my account and it drops down to 3 games I have accounts for, I enter my user name and pass for any of them and nothing. Thats all I can do.

It was me. I apologize. Bree doesn’t like me much even when I try to help people.

Oh your fine. I think it was more damage control than anything. Haha

Nah, Bree and I have a long history of moderation. This was still really unexpected.

Ahh, well let me get some sleep dude and I’ll let you know how it turned out. Been up like 40 hours. :D THX again

If you get in and want some fun company, I’m CharcoalCrow. I’m not always on, but I’m always hopeful that I’ll have fun instead of just mindlessly doing dailies.

People like @Estranged are awesome, too. He’s a fantastic person to follow when it comes to TSW/SWL!

Sounds good! I’ll let you know mine as soon as I can see what’s what and get in there heheh.

Crow

That’s the issue! That isn’t the portal anymore!

Try: https://account.secretworldlegends.com/lostpassword

I hope that helps. The “old” Funcom portal isn’t working for SWL. They have a totally new system now. I sincerely hope this solves your problem.

EDIT: You MAY have to make a new account on the SWL site. The old stuff isn’t the same.

Reader
Pedge Jameson

Thanks, sorry so brisk earlier, question though, how do I sign into TSW so I can make sure I claim my stuff? I still cant seem to log in to the old game.

Crow
Reader
Crow

Oh man… they fucked up the old client. I can’t help you there. I do hope that helped to get into SWL but even I can’t get back into TSW while their update servers point toward SWL.

What I mean is that Funcom put TWL and SWL on the same update server and everyone with TSW found themselves with a SWL client by… maybe, mistake.

I’d usually say contact support, but they’re pretty clear that they’re not responding to people before 7 days or so.

Reader
Pedge Jameson

Np, yeah thats the issue I was getting steamed over hehe. I’ll have to wait it out, Thanks for your help. Ill play some Battlefront or Witcher 3 until they sort it out. :D

Crow

Please don’t feel badly. I want people to be able to log in and I, again, apologize for my own brisk tenor. I’ve been on Reddit and in Overwatch too long :/

That said, I won’t be adding to any MOP SEO fodder soon when this is how I’m treated for trying to help someone.

Pedge Jameson

It’s all good, I’ll let you know how it turns out getting my account fixed.

so, the road map is they will give you what was already in the old game. New content late 2017-early 2018? OK wake me when that happens. Till then, I’m a non believer. Combat may be faster now but its way boring. Really really hate the hand holding , the simplified environment, and the exploding extra side missions because what….? we were to stupid to pick up a green quest?

Reader
James Crow

played TSW from the start and i accept to start over in SWL
but they really let me down when i didnt know i have to claim things i already bought to make them transfer to SWL.

it would be ok if i could get it anyway but i lost the TSW CE Issues cosmetics and they are TSW EXCLUSIVE.

funcom comment: sorry we cant do anything to help you, hope you ok.
and than send me to rated the support after i waited for a week for this non-helpful replay

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

Can’t you just link your account?

Reader
James Crow

You can but only one time, if you forget to claim something in tsw than you lose it forever in SWL.

They need to give second chance, alot of us spend alot of money on tsw so I think they can do it for us but you know… Funcom

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

They made that clear in all the FAQ’s regarding the linking, that it was a one time thing and you needed to be sure to have everything redeemed in the TSW account.

Reader
James Crow

and yet not everyone understand that you need to claim things you bought.

ive claim alot of new things i bought with my Bounus Point but didnt know i need to claim things i bought long time ago like my CE ISSUES Cosmetics and now there is no way to get them cuz they TSW EXLUSIVE.

im not talking about other stuff, but the CE we can show them that we had them before.

its not like im saying hey, where is all my 6 characters slot or something.

funcom need to show more support to some vet who support them when anyone else just said the game is bad.

Reader
Schmidt.Capela

What they need to do is to make the linking better.

Funcom has the data regarding which SWL account is linked to which TSW account (they share the username, after all). They have the data regarding what the TSW account is entitled to (after all, you can still claim those things with TSW characters). Just make a script to crawl through all linked TSW accounts, take note of everything the account is entitled to, and unlock those things in SWL.

The current linking process is bollocks. To make sure I would have all unlocks I had to make a new male character, get it to Kingsmouth (in order to enable claiming store purchases and other entitled items), and them manually claim everything I had purchased in my years of playing.

I’m curious about what the agent system will be, perhaps a sort of NPC sidekick system a la LotRO or Neverwinter?

Reader

if it would be a little like the HEROES in GW1 it be GREAT.

Or the whole duty officer thing from STO. That’s what I’m expecting anyway.

Reader
Jeffery Witman

That seems to be the popular theory right now. Honestly, if they made it like that I wouldn’t have a problem with it. If they made it accessible through mobile like Neverwinter did, that would be even better. I used to spend my breaks at work doing the mobile stuff in Neverwinter and trawling the AH for good deals. More big MMOs should have mobile integration, especially one where your main communication device in game is a smart phone.

Reader
Brown Jenkin

That’s a pleasant surprise, I always see people complaining about Neverwinter but I thought that their mobile accessibility/play was some of the best stuff out there :)

They took my legacy black suit pants, leaving only white suit pants, forcing me to play pantless. Then they added back many suit pants colors, omitting only… black. Dark gray doesn’t match my black suit jacket, FunCom!

I shall still play pantless in protest. Or, more accurately, in short shorts.

We have an actual roadmap, which is a thousand-time more than we got under the prior leadership.

It has been quiet, but Scott Junior is the best Exec they’ve had for SW-anything so far barring Ragnar.

This is happening because Tilty, who thought it a great idea to give fucking halos to people to make them feel invincible, was a shit-poor ED. Junior is really killing it and not killing the spirit of The Secret World like Tilty did. So many EPE stuffs have been rolled back. The game is actually challenging again as you gear up.

Somewhat Eclectic
Reader
Somewhat Eclectic

Tilty was the ED too? I thought he was just the Game Director. I thought they were different positions (ED being more on the corporate side of things) but I could easily be wrong.

Crow

He was specifically ED. Junior is not so much tied into the corporate. That can be good OR bad.

Several of the content additions will be based around Agartha. I love the concept of this zone, but I absolutely HATE and am sick of the over used Post Processing effects used here. Horrid amounts of Depth of field and Bloom, make my eyes water and head hurt if I stay here too long. No video options to disable these is just a slap in the face.

Everything else looks good and exciting though. Looking forward to the Tokyo and NY content.

Well that’s nice and all. Too bad you made the game unplayable for me with how you changed the controls with moving and looking on the mouse/keyboard. To say that I’m bitter about that mechanics change from TSW to SWL would be an understatement. So I’m now stuck with playing an mmo that’s dead, won’t see any new content and will most likely shut down within a year or two.

Best improvement SWL could have in the near future is allowing more flexibility with the controls, so I can change them to how they work in TSW and most other mmorpgs. I know it won’t happen, but I had to say it to get it off my chest.

Somewhat Eclectic

If they added in a lock target option I think it’d at least help people like you. Also, it’d be a huge help in some dungeons that have adds that not everyone needs to focus on.

Seems mostly fine to me, a decent pace to re-roll out all the missing content. Actually pretty happy with it, should give me plenty of time to at least keep up with content as it releases for the most part.

Dark Agartha could be neat but…Agent system? That sounds a lot like garrison/minion type stuff, and given how the game has been aggressively monetized (found out last night that you can only post 10 auctions per day, even as a patron : /) I can’t say I’m necessarily looking forward to it.

I am sitting on a big backlog from the summer sale, but can’t stop playing SWL long enough to get thru any of those games!

Otherwise, sound cool.
I do wonder what the game will look like before they release brand new content. Weaving in the old DLC into the storyline is… an interesting choice, but it’s also important to have things moving forward quite fast.
Especially considering the QOL issues that are super annoying to deal with, like the lack of good build/gear manager.

Reader
Hirku

Why wait for developers when modders got you covered right now?

Only includes ability swapping at this point, but gear management is planned.

The last I heard is that Funcom is planning to re-integrate the gear manager soon ™.

Heads up: The Gear Manager is in, it simply doesn’t have UI elements.

Type /help gearmanager to see the commands available. It switches around gear and Active/Passive skills, and supports multiple ‘loadouts’.

“…send you on your way to a brand new continent.”
So….South America or Antarctica? Votes?
They probably need to show a little love to Central/South America which has been almost entirely absent (save, IIRC, some Mayan vs Viking action), but the more interesting one mythos/HP Lovecraftian destination would be the Antarctic. Not to mention a lot easier set of textures for the artists. :)

I was skeptical when they announced the re-release, but it has been fun so far. The expected bumps on the initial re-release were kind of a pain, and the immersion isn’t quite there, but it has been a fun return. I look forward to that companion system, since I am a sucker for mission systems (I find I often log into STO or Rift just to send out my officers/minions). Hopefully it’s not a cash grab.

The game mechanics no longer get in the way and I seem to be much more ingrained in the world and stories due to everything being clear in the way it all functions. It’s straight forward how you upgrade and to me it’s extremely addictive.
I always burned out at Blue Mountain every time i came back, I’m way past BM now, that sums up nicely on how much better i feel the game is now.
Another example the daily quests are understandable, where as before it was WTF stuff, and knowing you’re earning MOF for doing it, makes it all that much more worth it.
The nutshell is the whole game feels more like an mmo, so sensible, levels, AH, a doable daily journal, an exchange, that the story really shines though the fog of how it functioned before.
In allot of ways it’s still like before too, just laid out better, and of course the combat actually feels intuitive and still allows much experimentation.

At the moment the web site linked to above says “country”, not “continent” (emphasis mine):

As a results of the events that ended at the top of the Orochi Tower, continue the main story mission and follow up on a lead which will send you on your way to a brand new country.

So either they’ve changed it because with saying “continent” it would be too easy to guess or because the location will be on a continent already visited. heh.

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

Yep! Updated language to say new country instead of continent. I think this reinforces Congo being the next place (as someone probably just forgot Egypt was Africa!).

Hey, I am Missing Lynx! Whoo hoo me!

Super curious about Dark Agartha and what that means exactly. It sounds like it might be some kind of dungeon system inside Agartha itself. The agent system I am more…. cautious….on. Those type of offline progression systems can either be good or awful with little inbetween, so we will see.

And let the speculation begin as to which new continent we are going to. (My money is on Africa and going to the Congo.)

Reader
Kickstarter Donor
Tobasco da Gama

“Brand new continent” implies it’s one we haven’t visited already. Even if we only count the major playfields, we’ve already been to Africa (Egypt), along with Asia, Europe, and North America.

So, a new continent would imply either South America, Australia, or Antarctica. If we go to Antarctica, I assume the new story will be centered on the lost city that Amundsen found. (Which already has some ties to Lilith and the Gaia Engines.) But going to South America to follow up on the Mayan glyphs that Arun Singh supposedly uncovered, related to the end time prophecies, wouldn’t be surprising either.

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

This is true, but they also state that it follows up from what happened at the top of the Orochi Tower, and not sure how South America fits into that.

Reader
Tithian

Hoping for South America and more lore on what happened after the events of the Darkness War. I mean, we know the Mayans attacked to free whatever lies beneath BM, so I’m guessing they already knew about the filth etc.?

And they said it’ll be a new continent, and we’ve been to Africa already (Egypt).

Reader
Hirku

I’m voting Congo also, they have all those AoC jungle assets to speed things up. We’re sure not going to get full cities anymore.

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

Well, it is either the Congo or “The Hive”. Perhaps both!

Reader
Hirku

I’m very interested in this agent system they mention. In the original I never felt like I was anything other than a flunky; my place in the faction was never more than an icon and a title. I would love new features that give us a sense of growing power for Team Green/Red/Blue. And if I’m managing agents, I of course will need a safe house to operate out of. *nudge nudge* *wink wink*

There are some bit missing though. What about the Venetian Agenda, are we getting that along the Whispering Tide Event? IIRC that’s when the Black Signal first made its appearance. And they still haven’t mentioned what will happen to the missions for unlocking the old Aux weapons. Those were pretty amazing and even gave info on NPCs (i.e. Edgar ).

And while I know people would be annoyed, I’m secretely hoping they would reuse the Halloween missions from launch, because the new players deserve to get the conclusion to what happened with Andy’s kittens.

camren_rooke
Reader
camren_rooke

Shame about those kittens.

Reader
Hirku

They needed the exercise.

Reader
Geoffrey Smith

My guess is, if you read the road map, it sounds like the Venetian Agenda will probably be worked in to the parts where we are looking at the Whispering Tide. Scenarios are already in the game, and IIRC you can go to the Venetian portal, so it will probably just be worked in there. I was kinda surprised to see the A Dream to Kill wasn’t already in game, but that makes sense given it was entirely after the pre-Tokyo story, for the most part.

I think Aux weapons are totally on the back burner. They were never useful in TSW anyway, and right now, I am not sure what use they would be. It’s a shame….

And it does look like they are gonna reuse the old Halloween events. The roadmap specifically mentions the Cat God so…..

Reader
Tithian

Didn’t we need to do a bunch of scenarios to “buy” our token for access to Tokyo? That took quite a while as far as I can remember (which is probably why I just did the mission to get the fake token instead). You are right, it’s most likely baked into the Tide.

About the aux weapons, yeah they mentioned that those are gone (unless they decide to turn them into proper weapons), but I want to do those missions damnit. The Uncertainty Principle for the Quantum weapon was one of my favorites. And I’m guessing we might get “Just a Flesh Wound” when they introduce the Modern Prometheus.
