Chronicles of Elyria reveals more races: The To’resk and Waerd

Chronicles of Elyria has revealed the lore and stats of another pair of its races, which Soulbound Studios calls Tribes, in case you’re confused!

The To’resk are a cautious and patient people whose survival revolves around water and their wetland home. The Waerd, on the other hand, are hard-scrabble, collectivist, androgynous desert people who always refer to themselves in the plural.

The lore pieces are incredibly elaborate, with sections on everything from religion and politics to foods and entertainment.

The To’resk and Waerd join the Brudvir, Hrothi, and Neran among the revealed Tribes so far. The studio is planning a dozen for starting players.

I backed this, but those are the most uninteresting Races I’ve seen in an MMO. Terrible art too, which is surprising considering most of what they have put out has been great.

I seriously , SERIOUSLY can not be the only one that notices that their names ARE a word play of Grotesque and Weird, right guys? Guys?…

Interesting catch. So what are your takes on their Brudvir (giant race), Hrothi (dwarf race) and Neran (normal race)?

I have to admit that I am not very good at word play, especially when they’re become quite obscured. But I also will also admit that Soulbound’s choice of race and their rendered representations is a bit unsettling in the “something is not right” section of my pigtails. :(

This game is quickly becoming hilarious. So the pictures they are using for environments are stock internet photos from around the world.

Here we have Australialand! Here is a Minnesotaland!

And I’m not sure if the “races” are real life racist or not…but my senses are certainly tingling!

I’ve just gotta ask…. How in the hell do you turn a game’s race information into a “racist” call out? I mean really.

Well if you are using stock photos from the real world and then you have a yellowish humanoid with ugly features and sharp teeth…you COULD (stress could) be thinking Asians. And if you have a picture with an odd looking race in Australia that is an Aborigine…then well. We’ll see if their race characteristics are something along the lines of ‘Especially Stupid’, ‘Eats Feces’, ‘Bows to Vikings’ etc before I’ll know. I expect great hilarity from this title! By the looks of their artwork for at least a decade or so.

I am assuming that you meant “real life races” as opposed to “real life racist” in the Freudian slippage? o.O

Reader

No I meant exactly what I said.

For a second I thought it said the new races are the risk and reward.
