‘Strategic hero shooter’ Gigantic officially launches on PC and Xbox One

Make room in your gaming schedule because Perfect World’s Gigantic is now out with a vengeance. The glowy MOBA PWE rescued after delays and multiple financial and staffing difficulties and redubbed a “strategic hero shooter” officially launched today on multiple platforms, including Xbox One, Steam, and Windows 10.

The release is accompanied by a huge day one patch that includes Ramsay, the game’s 19th hero, who swings a massive blade. That’s just the beginning, too: The team plans to release an additional hero every month of live operation. Players can also enjoy the text chat feature, grab special skins through various partner sites, and buy one of the new packages.

We’ve got the launch trailer and a look back at Gigantic’s development and our coverage to date after the break!

My pet peeve with this game is that the only turret class is…an old lady?

First world problems I know, but damn…I dont want to play that

The game is alright…but it snowballs so fast. A leading team can just keep leading and it drags out. I do mean DRAGS like there is no freakin’ tomorrow. I’ve been in a game that lasted nearly 80 minutes. As evenly matched as that is…it’s insane. I recall the days of ATV being long, but those were epic 40-player teams in an MMO with larger skill sets, more strategy, and just all around more fun. This game’s small team size doesn’t suite a prolonged game like that especially given the lacking of strategic play unlike that of LoL.

It was a Win10 exclusive because it was previously tied to the Windows Store. It’s now released on Steam and available through the Arc client, so the exclusivity is over.
