Frontier Developments plans a convention for Elite: Dangerous in October

Do you have a deep and abiding love for Planet Coaster? Probably not. How about Elite: Dangerous? Yes, that’s good, many more hands are being raised. How would you like to attend a convention for both of them in October? Frontier Developments announced the upcoming Frontier Expo 2017 in London’s Olympic Park, a one-day convention on October 7th devoted to both of the studio’s games and what comes next for the titles.

It is not immediately clear how much overlap there may between the fandoms for the two games, but that may be part of the entertainment.

Elite: Dangerous fans will be able to learn more about the game’s upcoming plans and features and attend panels about the real-world science behind the game, as well as collecting various exclusive digital and physical merchandise at the convention. If you’re going to be in the area and have a powerful need to be in on the ground floor (or would consider flying out to London for a one-day convention), tickets go on sale in about two days.

I really hope they release some more details about 2.4 prior to this event, I am so bored in Elite right now and would love some details on what is coming up in 2.4 to get me hyped and motivate me to make some more money bounty hunting

I am more than happy to wait till October to hear about what is coming after 2.4 but please give me some information on 2.4…

I’m going.

Not to bothered about planet coaster (obviously) but I’ll be there to cover the Elite Dangerous changes for Lave Radio and we’re curious about the new third IP.

Speculation has ranged from some kind of James Bond Game, A game or MMO based on Universal’s Dark Universe movies, a Jurassic World Tie in or a Thomas the Tank Engine Railway tycoon. Frontier are being very tight lipped (But we’re hoping for Thomas The Tank!)

Both games have something very important in common: a caring company behind them.

Wow really weak trolling there JebLeBlanc. I’m sure you believe you’re making the SC community proud with your tribalistic nonsense.

Oh c’mon, recalling your shenanigans in SC threads, are you really the one to cry foul on thisone, ed ?

A respectful attitude is required, and I would say mandatory, between each space game players, which are many often casual and/or hardcore gamers or each other franchise.

This brief interlude was offered by the White Knight Association :)

If you really believed that you would be responding to JebLeBlanc, not me.

What is your point by ‘if you believe”?… I write in a section visible by all Netsufer on this planet, quoting your comment related to a precise person.

This is visible to all, JetLeBlanc included.

I expressed my position as a member of SC Community (one of many)… and yes I believe in what I wrote… otherwise I don’t write it.
I could have made zero remark, at all. I choose to do it that way, but still it is not enough for you…

And for fun I could add: “I’m sure you believe you’re making the ED community proud” :)… but somehow, as a Defacto member of the ED community, that would forced me to write another paragraph :)

Let’s keep this section clean for people who want to talk about this ED Convention. If you do not mind.

… and Long Life to ED and all space games made by guys who do respect and keep PC players genre alive!

And again….

There’s absolutely no point in trying to put the ‘respect’ thing in my court, respect is earned. If someone is trolling or being disrespectful then they deserve to be called on it,your additional waffle on the topic has done nothing to make that clearer, which I suspect was your purpose in the first place.

Just keep this section clean for people interested by ED Convention. Now this is my last comment about this to comply with my own suggestion. Classified me in whatever place you want.
Readers will sort it out themself if they care.. at all :)

This sounds cool, it’s good to that moving to a self-publishing model has worked out so well for them. I won’t be going but I’m looking forward to hearing their plans for Elite after patch 2.4 as well as more details about the new IP in the works.

They’re also holding a community event outside of Gamescom that is free to attend https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/366291-gamescom-2017-Frontier-Community-Meet

agemyth 😩

Two games? But what if I’m a Frontier fan from their fantastic work on Kinectimals and Zoo Tycoon (2013)? Although I do love the thought that Elite and Planet Coaster are big enough on their own to justify this.
