Overwatch’s Doomfist is finally here

Hear that, Overwatch players? That is the sound… of your doom! Fist!

Bad introductory puns past us, it is true: Doomfist is now playable in Overwatch. The villain character has been anticipated by fans ever since the game’s original cinematic (in which his iconic metal glove was shown).

Doomfist’s cybernetic appendage gives the players a lot of offensive options, such as a seismic slam, a hand cannon, and a rocket punch. “Recently freed from imprisonment, Doomfist is determined to plunge the world into a new conflict that he believes will make humanity stronger,” Blizzard said. “Doomfist’s cybernetics make him a highly-mobile, powerful frontline fighter.”

He’s a tough character to play. His skill cooldowns are pretty short, but since you can’t reload his hand cannon and have to wait for the four meager rounds to recharge, you can literally find yourself without any attacks (beyond the basic melee everyone has) for a while. I think I’ll like him once I get a handle on him, though.

My first impression is he does seem a bit limited but I guess it might take a bit of time to work out the best use for him.

He may be limited, but can easily one-shot most character. I think all someone was doing the other day was just waiting patiently to kill me while healing on Lucio…got one-shot multiple times by them, but I think it may have cost their team vs. playing another character that contributes more consistently. He seemed a bit squishy, as well – easily killed multiple times while on a healer.
